I would think what would be regulated is where you have the camper or RV parked. I doubt there's any laws about just living in them. People do.

Yeah, I think it's just where you have it parked...like you can only park in certain places for a certain ammount of time. Interesting question...

Are you talking about leaving it in one spot or driving around in it. If leaving in one spot you may have zoning ordnances and if driving to campgrounds there are regulations about that too. Each area is different, in PA you can camp for 2 weeks then you have to vacate the area for 24 hours then you can camp for another 2 weeks, some rv campgrounds you can be there all summer, depends on where you are. But some people do live year round in their campers but they just move from time to time. There are trailer courts that you can hook your utilities up to and stay there.
What type of life are you looking at??

I was wondering about this too!

You know if you park somewhere are you allowed to sleep there overnight? say if its just like.. a village where people park there cars and there aren't any lines apart from the ones in the middle of the road? because I was talking to my parents about it and they said they weren't sure you'd be allowed to sleep in your van you might have to go to a camp site.. but it's just the same as parking your car and leaving it overnight apart from you're in it. Where can we find out about the laws concerning this?

Check out the KOA Campground site. I think it's http://www.koa.com ? I'm not sure. Anyway, people here in Las Vegas actually LIVE there. Same for MOST RV parks. KOA even lets you pitch a tent. They have showers for a fee.

If you are travelling around in the camper or whatever, there are a lot of options.
You can go to the R.V. parks, but the are pretty expensive. Walmart allows overnight camping in their parking lots but I have not been brave enough to try that, to many evil vibes. If you are travelling in a van or something smaller than an R.V. you can get by with parking in a residential neighborhood if you are VERY DISCREET, if you draw attention to yourself then the cops will be there quick. ANother option is 24 hour grocery stores, they are usually pretty cool.
If you travell at night and sleep during the day, it is much easier. People don't bug you during the day.

For a little more long term stuff you could just park off of a national forest access rode. They have a couple rules you have to follow about distance from the road or water. They also have a stipulation that you have to move your camp ecery two weeks. Thats not so bad.
Also you could just give a friend a little cash every month to let you live in their driveway or in front of their house. The good part about this is there is always a shower pretty close.
