Hello, Im having a very wierd experience with the online symbol tests to test your abilities. I'll close my eyes and imagine the symbol and i'll get wrong then try again and still get it wrong, but the way its happening is im seeing the one before the one im supposed to be seeing eg: see star- will be square, see cicle will be star, see waves will be circle etc. Is this normal? Im new to all this and still trying to figure it all out. I am seeking help in trying to be more accurate instead of seeing everything in a jumble. Are the online tests a good way of testing yourself?
Speaking purely for myself, I wouldn't bother with an online test. I used to test myself with playing cards years ago (predicting red or black suit) and I consistently did better than 50% accuracy, but nothing to write home about. I think tests like that are kind of beside the point, cuz it's not really about whether you can predict cards as much as it's about what your experiences in this life are about in a very large context, and what insights the universe chooses to grant you. Again: I'm only speaking for myself. And I absolutely wouldn't discourage you from continuing online tests, if that's something you want to do. According to what you're saying, you're obviously getting it right...in a strange way...if I were you I would be trying to get in touch with my spirit guide and ask, "What is the lesson in knowing what's coming in two cards instead of one?" One night, when I was taking a long driving trip by myself, I stopped in a motel and started playing solitaire on my laptop. I started to realize that I always knew beforehand whether I was going to win a game or lose it. This happened time after time. Finally I started skipping the games I knew I would lose, and then I won every game I played. This ability only lasted the one night, Amber. Next day I couldn't predict anymore. I chalk it up to my angels providing me and themselves with a bit of entertainment for my long trip. Kind of them, wouldn't you say?
Thank you, I will have a try with playing cards and see how I get on with them. I can only try. How do I get in touch with my spirt guide? I was told by a medium once that I have my uncle watching out for me, would he be my spirit guide and how do I contact him? Yesterday I went to my local medium shop and the lady there told me I was more pyschic than a medium and explained the differance that a medium uses a spirit to guide them and a psychic doesnt. So would that mean that I dont have a spirit guide? I really sorry for asking so many questions but ive come round to the idea that I am gifted and would really like to use it to help others, its just knowing how to.
everyone has a spirit guide amber. there are many meditations out there that will bring you to your guide..
Yeah, what Salem said is right. Some folks have more than one spirit guide. Well, of course, there are lots of guides, but some are the point person...the ones who act as your main contact. Hmmm...anyway, Salem is right about the meditation, too. Everything "out there" is "in here," Amber--in our heads. Whatever you want to look for is already part of you. Meditation is a way of tuning to what you're looking for. And ask you guide(s) to show themselves to you--and nurture a feeling of patient, knowing peace that what you ask for will manifest. You could of course contact your uncle, if that feels good and right to you. If you seek a particular person or spirit, it should be someone or some spirit who fits you like a well-used pair of sneakers--someone you can be completely comfortable with in all your thoughts and moods. Ask all the questions you want. That's one of the things we're all here for.
i used to believe i could guess playing cards face down too. Got better than 50% accuracy with red and black, moved on to suits, and then numbers. I was practising this so that i could become the best poker player ever and make ridiculous amounts of money. When i worked out that the whole thing was just a delusion i felt terrible. one of the worst days of my life. i would strongly recommend NOT trying to guess playing cards because i) it will make you believe you are psychic, regardless of your success. ii) it is a poor use of time, time is limited and should not be wasted. amber and zengizmo- you are not psychic but you will not be able to work this out on your own. I am not especially clever, i am just incredibly lucky that things fell into place and i was able to work it out.
Btw amber- your first post is very interesting. here's my take on it. 1. You thought you were psychic before you took the test. 2. The results of the test did not support your belief. 3. Your belief that you are psychic is a delusion (a fixed, false belief), so it will not change even though you failed the test. So instead you interperate the data in a way that supports your belief. Intrestingly when i thought i could guess playing cards, i would count getting them all wrong as evidence of psychic ability because it was consistent! now you have redefined a success. you will count guessing the card correctly as evidence supporting your belief. You will also count it as a success if it is the one you guessed before. if you don't guess a card and its not the one you guessed before either (about half the time) then you will think something like "didn't work that time", as opposed to thinking "thats strong evidence that i'm not psychic". as it "didn't work" you will forget (this actually happens) the result- meaning that you remember getting a much higher proportion right than you actually did. be careful before you delude yourself completely, like i did.
Hala, I'm sorry, but I'm just laughing my head off at your notes. No, not at you, exactly. You're really very clever, and you're right about some of what you say. And I agree with you that doing card tests is kind of a waste. If you read my note above more closely, you might notice that I said that. See, I think you missed that in my note. I think you have missed some other things also, Hala. If I had only card guessing experiences to decide if I'm psychic, I wouldn't be laughing right now. The reason I'm laughing is because you're so certain you're right about us deluding ourselves, and from my lifetime of experiences, I know very clearly how wrong you are. But I can never convince you of this because--as you note--we interpret events to suit our beliefs. This is true of you too, Hala. Anyway I don't really believe I'm a psychic. To me, a psychic is someone who can summon psychic knowledge any time they want. I'm just a person who has had a lot of psychic experiences--a LOT, Hala, and some of them fairly dramatic. The card-guessing was nothing at all. The truth of psychic experience is that it's not that predictable (ironic, isn't it?) and it's a lot more complicated than I think most people realize. However it's good to maintain a healthy skepticism, to an extent--only to an extent. Because if you allow skepticism to rule your entire worldview, you'll end by believing nothing, and then you'll miss a hell of a lot of very cool and amazing stuff.
hmmm. your post is very interesting to me for a few reasons. firstly you reminded me that I interperate every event as having nothing to do with psychic powers, even though there is no way i could know this is the correct view. In a way its a gamble of mine. I interperate everything as rationally as possible because in the long run i'm more likely to get more right answers than wrong, even though i won't know which are which. secondly you talk about having many different psychic experiences. this was actually true of me as well- i had deja vu really bad and thought that i could see into the future in my dreams (really embarrassed about that one :&). Also i would 'know' who was ringing me before i'd pick up the phone, or know who the phone call was for (i couldn't really do this but i thought i could). There were actually loads of things, it seems the psychic explanation would always first one i'd think of. I've only realised that this moment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- thirdly your post seems (to me) to be written in the style i would have used 6 months ago when i thought i was psychic (i was deluded). The key feature of a delusion is certainty. It will be something you are completely sure can't be a delusion. Thats why it hurts so much if you ever work it out. Your post gives the impression that you are certain about your belief. you say; "you're right about some of what you say" - this implies that you think you know the truth, and i don't. "...I know very clearly how wrong you are." i love this one too! You 'know' i'm wrong! "The truth of psychic experience is..." - this is a giveaway. i would always refer to my delusions as 'the truth'. you'll find people that believe in the 9/11 conspiracy theory (as opposed to considering it) refer to their beliefs as 'the truth' "...lot more complicated than I think most people realize." - realize is the key word here, although the sentence as a whole is one i would have used 6 months ago. I thought the world was more complicated than what most people think (and that i was lucky enough not to be one of these people)
Hi Hala, Im only doing the online tests as a bit of fun. I take it that you are a skeptic, just as my husband was. It is actually my husband that is encourging me to develop my abilities and believe in them. I used to think that they were just coincedental but when you are being woken up every night for 2years havin the same dream seeing your husband having sex with a woman that I had never seen before and then being told tat the dream I had been having was absolutly spot on down to the last detail then I think that is more than just coincedental not a delusion. Im not basing my ability on just that dream there have been others too. And for you to put someone down about not really having abilities that took along while to believe they have isnt nice. Everyone has the right to speak their mind but when it is going to hurt someones feelings then that is the time you dont say anything. The vision I have are not nice ones, they are ones that I would not rather see so for you to say that its all my head is wrong. When you have dreams or visions that someone is going to die before that person even knows that anything is going to happen isnt nice. Im sorry to sound nasty about it but to read what you have written has really annoyed me. 2days ago I had a vision that my grandad was going to die even thou he the healthiest 80 yr old I know. Today I got a phonecall, he is in hospital and we are to prepare ourselves for the worst because they dont think he is going to make it. So you tell me that these things are in my head but I know what I see and they are not good to know about.
hey amber. sorry to hear about your grandad. i don't mean to come across as mean or arrogant, and i certainly don't mind you sounding nasty. I think I sound nasty to you because I have claimed that an emotional belief of yours is false. Its just like telling a christian that their god is false, or telling a compulsive gambler that they ARE addicted, or telling a lazy person that they won't be an entrepeneur. Its a belief that you are certain about so i will seem to come across in a way i don't intend to.
i came on this forum to see if i could help people work out that their beliefs are false. The card guessing delusion is one i've experienced myself and i know how it works. I know why i believed what i did and i know the emotions i felt. i also went on youtube and found a woman who thought she could see into the future in her dreams (she was experiencing deja vu). i have experienced this as well, and is a lot more complicated and harder to work out. i have done it and i thought i could explain it to her. She told me to leave her alone because she "knew" her beliefs were true. i hoped that i would be able to help at least one person change their beliefs, but once they are there, they seem to be stuck with them. i was very naive to think i could change people's beliefs.
Based on what you're saying, you apparently don't want to see what anybody else has to say, you just want to tell them why they're wrong. Is that because you "know" your beliefs are true?
i can always predict little things like if i flip a coin i can get it right like 10 times and things like that, but i dont know anything about psycic stuff .. and whats a spirit guide?
Then I guess you'll learn about psychic stuff by experience... A spirit guide is a spirit who guides you. If you want one, ask. If not, don't bother.
Come on now, d&c, how can you want one if you don't know what they do? They do whatever you need. What do you need?
Well then D&C, if you don't really need anything, you don't really need a spirit guide. You were just looking for a bit of fun. If you need a spirit guide, you'll know what to do. In the meantime, just have some fun...experience being psychic...et cetera...
