I have 2 of my front dreads on the right side of my head that will NOT stop trying to congo. I rip them apart once a day, and over night it comes down and 1-2 inches. Every morning I rip them apart, but they're growing together so fast. Maybe this is because I didn't rip at all for the first 3-4 weeks I had my dreads? Anywho, do you think they'll stop forming together? I feel bad ripping my hair, haha.
they will probably stop growing together BUT if they want to grow together that badly i would just let them go. congos are awesome after all
im not really into congos, so if i was u i would keep ripping. i guess the deciding thing here is: do u want a congo? and: if u want a congo, do u want it in the front of your head? (front right side, wasnt it?)
I wouldn't mind a congo elsewhere, but I'd prefer it not be in the front. As for the bead comment, Genius! Too bad I don't have any beads right now. I'll definitely have to pick one up. Can't believe I didn't think of that, haha. Thanks =)
How much would it run me? Cash is kinda tight right now, and I'm being as cheap as possible, haha. >.<
i think its just that the hairs at the roots are crossed, some tnhat should be in 1 dread try to form into the other & its a matter of continuing to rip a few weeks all the way to the roots till they slowly decide where they want the seperation to be
bead is a great idea. another thing you could do is try palm rolling right at the root...alot.....this will jam the hairs that you've ripped apart into their respective dreads. check the craft section of a dollar store....you will surely find bags of beads there with at least 15-20 beads in them. they're usually pretty generic, but they're nice for what you're looking for. If you can't find any, let me know, i'd gladly send you some beads. no charge. I think it's nice to trade dreadie accessories with nice people
Theres an art gallery/store in the small town I live in and they sell beads for like 5 bucks a piece (canadian) and i keep hearing about this place in ottawa (canadas capital city) called sassy beads, and im just going to go out on a limb and guess that they sell beads too. You can find beads in some of the wierdest places, and theres nothing more fun then rooting through old boxes in the basement for hair accessories. And finally the gold mine of all gold mines, thrift stores XD there is nothing so good!
they want to grow together because the hairs of one are mixed with the other. So what would probably help is to make a straight line between the two (hard to explain).
I've never had to rip mine apart. Guess my hair is just really really straight, and thin. I have to crotchet them to get them to dread, Ahhhhhh.
ugh, I have really thick hair, and my dreads are constantly growing together. I'll have an entire row, front to back, that's trying to congo. I only rip once a week, though. I mean to do it more, but...oh well. Just keep at it. It's annoying, but I'm hoping that it's well worth it.
Yeah, I found that there's a small chunk of hair that doesn't like the dread it was in, so it decided to move in with it's neighbor. That little bastard!
