everyone looks good in dreads, absolutely everyone. I find myself randomly saying to people during silences 'you know you would look good with some dreadies you should get some ' haha love!
I want to get them, but I don't really think that my parents would let me. (My mom kinda loves my hair ) Maybe I'll just do it and not let them know.
Yes. But you seriously need to do something about those eyebrows before you do anything else! Get them manicured or something. Sheesh! They look like big black catapillars
no offense, but just cause youre a lame ass pretty boy doesnt mean everyone else should be too. to the OP, you would look really great with dreads, totaly do it. your hair is perfect for it too. also, it will not be necessary to pluck your eyebrows lol. god, i hate it when guys do that...
unless they have a unibrow. But that's not the case here. Go dreads! It's the perfect hairstyle..known why? Because it's the most natural. We were born to have dreads.
Dude, you kinda look like the guy that plays sean on the degrassi show . Yes i watch degrassi :sombrero:
just a general opinion here: a guy should not do anything with his eyebrows unless he got a unibrow. and matthew, at least he got the deacency not to pose like u do in your personal pictures, put a t-shirt on, showing off muscles looks rediculus, and on top of that u dont got anything to show of
I agree. I pluck my unibrow, but leave the rest of my eyebrows alone. Anyways, I think that I'm going to dred my hair. I'm sure everybody is tired of this question, but how should I do it? I know, backcombing and no wax.. But I havent really seen backcombing explained, how do you do it? And to keep them clean, would I have to buy special shampoo, or can I make some (Like the deep cleaning thing someone posted, could I just use that instead of buying shampoo?) Do I start washing them right away, or wait a week or something? Sorry about lots of questions.
whooooaaaa, leave each other alone. This is a place for love and uplifting, not downgrading and dumping of your low self esteem issues. Not cool. I'm not feeling the love from you, matthew, or from you, maereo. Anyway. Tzvii, there are amazing stickies here in knotty know how that will walk you through the dready do's and don'ts. I suggest backcombing if you want a little more control over the location and size, natural if you want a more organic, messy (in a good way) esperience. Both ways are amazing journies, and both ways take about the same amount of time to fully become dreadlocks. Rules: NO WAX! No rubber bands. At least, not beyond separating. Once you've backcombed, if that's the way you want to go, get rid of those rubber bands. Dr. Bronners is the most amazing soap in the world. Dilute it! Don't put it straight on your head, because that causes gunk. I suggest getting an empty bottle, fill it 2/3 with water, put in a few squirts of doc bronners, and shake. Then wash your hair with that. If you backcomb, I'd wait a week or two before washing. After that it's up to you. Your head will produce oils according to how often you wash. I personally only wash with soap about every two months. I rinse them off about once a week. When you wash, your dreads WILL fall out quite a bit. This is good. That means they're getting ready to tighten up on their own terms. The most important step to amazing knotty hair...hipforums. I'm serious. This place is the only reason I still have my knots going strong...without the support here I would've brushed my hair months ago. Much love and luck! Remember to read through the stickies! It's a good few hours of solid entertainment and learning, I swear!
I asked the same question here, but then I found that regardless of what people said... I wanted dreads, hence why I asked here. If I wanted them, why would I ask other people if I should get them? If you really want dreads, go for it! As for them falling out, Look at day 1 and day 7 in my gallery. You'll see how bad they fell out. Just stick with it!
You're right, I'm not really sure about why I asked, but I wanted to so oh well. Also a good way for me to ask some of my questions. I'll try and get my mom to help me section my hair when she gets back on Wednesday (Although I haven't even told her I was wanting to get dreads, we'll see how that goes) One last question I have is when people say 1x1 inch squares, do they mean on the scalp? or how fat all the hairs together are? I don't want super fatty dreads, maybe about a nickels width, how big should I make the sections? Or does it even matter, will they just change to whatever size they want to be?
