The Howling Wolf Sanctuary is relocating to Ashland and they could use some things to get them going. Feel free to pass this list on to anyone you think can help, like local animal groups, fencing contractors, etc.

    and thanks a lot.

Hey: Will try to get the material to make you some killer wolf toy balls. I made some for my wolf/dog and for a coyote/dog. They had trouble tearing it up. They are hard on toys made for doggies. Maybe some other folks can make some up too.

Make 12 2 inch pentagons with a 1/4 inch seam allowance added outta any real tough fabric. Like denim or duck or canvas. They must not be able to snag it easy with their fangs. Sew up into a ball with button thread or nylon type thread. Stuff with fiberfill or better yet moss or fine wood shavings. In case they do rip it open. Thats a 2" measurement on the side of the pentagon. To assemble sew up 5 pieces to one piece and do the same with the others then sew up together to form a large ball shape. I used the legs off my cutoffs. The cat liked it too. You can make a smaller ball with a 1 inch pentagon or make it larger. Its a canine hackysack really.

If you make it with fiberfill it can go in a washer and dryer for cleaning though. But fiberfill and wolf tummies do not agree. My wolf/dog had a lot of supervision so if you just place it in a wolf pen they would have to examined regularly in case of a tear. Which is why I suggest some kind of natural filler. You want it soft and gushy so they can grab it and toss it themselves. Good for hours and hours of critter heaven.

    Peace, Cricket

Got some denim but just gotta get some stuffing gathered.

If there is a sawmill in your area, they are sure to have piles of shavings they won't mind you taking. Great for the garden too.

It sounds like you and I think a little the same, he he. I wrote the sanctuary and told them I had 20 couches for them. I like the good life too :) but maybe you are right about the fiberfill; the wolves are bound to tear it to pieces, at least any pups will. I give my dogs stuffed animals to play with and sometimes it looks like it has snowed in July!
