For over 20 years I have been having what I call my water dreams. My dream is going along and some where a body of water appears and I HAVE to get to it and in it. It can be a river, lake, ocean or even a pond. The irony is once I get there it is either only inches deep, impenetrable or I can't get to it at all.
That was the first few years. As time went on there was a dream where the pond turned evil like a swamp.

But Over time I was eventually able to get below the surface although most of the time I couldn't see anything but it was comforting.

The symbolism could be anything and I had given up trying to figure it out.

Lately most of my dreams have been about my art or going back to school for art but never getting anywhere or missing classes.(I went back to art school 20 years ago)

But I had a "Water Dream" the other night. A beautiful ocean! As I got to the beach at first the water along the beach was shallow and under cover, like walking into rooms. I was disapointed until I came back out and saw the glorious ocean beyound. This time I made it into and was exhilarated as the waves came at me! I loved it (although the waves had a slightly annimated look about them)

But Once again I looked down at the water and couldn't go under. (Ok I have'nt been swimming since I was a child, not images that are curent in my brain) . But .....suddenly I felt stings on my legs and realized I was surrounded by jelly fish! I made it to the beach where I collasped with my legs rapidly swelling.

Now it got me thinking again. My art has been going through some interesting and exciting changes and I feel I have just started "scratching the suface" of this technique I have been exploring for the past 20 years (hmm just realized a connection!) but dangerous?

Then last night I had a dream about doing collages with flowing colors with large shards of broken glass! Now it has me wondering if there is a connection?

My artwork is now in my gallery here but the style I am refering to is along the lines of Night Stallion. Take a look if you like.

If I am missing any other symbolism here I am open to hearing it.

Hi colorspinner ... love your art !

I thought water is about spiritual awareness, and healing of self.

Not getting where you feel drawn to helps you to find the obstacle, and tap into your own deeper intent at the same time.
The jellyfish is about the wonder of life and the fragility of your own being. Like medicine, it brings change and transformation and this is part of healing.

And so you sink deeper through the doing, knowing all you need is already inside of you. And even as you reach out to tap into a greater awareness, like an ocean it will take you in and carry you on ... this, too, is like coming home.

    Yup just thoughts.

My art is my spiritual awareness. My paintings are tapped from within and I feel the need to dig deeper. I paint with flowing paint letting the colors run into each other. The journey to the end of the painting is exciting because I let it run free at the beginning and then rein it in to a recognizable image. Sort of like tameing a wild horse. :)

On a more physical note I am facing a major spinal surgery in the coming months and the pain in my legs is steadily getting worse. The jelly fish stings may just be a manifestation of my own pain and fear for the future.
