I imagine it's some kind of inflammation in the body...if it's just a red and irritated area?

There's a LOT of things most people could do to decrease inflammation in the body, and most people are in consistent states of chronic inflammation but they just don't realize it.

I also consider cutting out most wheat and dairy for at least a couple weeks, since most people have allergies to this food which creates very strong inflammation in the body. Then when you eat them again after abstaining for a few weeks, you will see how reactive they actually are. Not to mention bread contributes to fungal conditions and candida.

You should also consider giving up most meat as its very acidic and inflammatory in large amounts...and cut out all hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup and white sugar as those create inflammation too. Check this site out for a free vegetarian starter kit - http://goveg.com/order.asp

Then I would start adding in natural anti-inflammatory foods internally, like ginger, a lot of high quality organic spices, green vegetables, most vegetables and most fruit. Hemp seeds, hemp oil, flax oil, and spirulina would be great to add in too to really reduce the inflammation. You could also do a lot of things topically like MSM lotion, fresh aloe vera gel, or DMSO(but you have to know how to use it).

If it is a fungus and not just an irritation, I would look into a strong herbal anti-fungal like pau d Arco or cat's claw. Applied topically with DMSO would be a very strong way of attacking whatever is in there without using harsh chemicals that a doctor would prescribe... Here is a good pau d arco supplement I recommend that's mixed with a lot of potent immune-system stimulating anti-fungal herbs - http://174486.amazonherb.net/Group06_Arcozon.aspx
