Democracy is no longer democratic when we start shoving it down another country's throat and forcing them to take it.
I elaborated when I said this: "I think one problem is everyone just votes Democrat or Republican, and most people probably don't really hear what anyone on the other side has to say, they just vote for the party they usually vote for." Readddddddd
And yet everyone seems to think that democrazy is what's needed to make our world better. "Democracy passes into despotism." - Plato
I don't see how that's a reason to get rid of political parties though. Do you know why political parties existed in the first place?
Well, it's a bit more dependable than, say, the "benevolent dictator", which works fine for one generation maybe. Besides, people like democracy. It gives them the illusion of freedom and the illusion of safety all in one.
I think the problem is that people don't realise that we don't have a democracy here... its a republic.
So, are you guys going to party, or are you going to sit around like that Judean Peoples Front sketch in Monty Python? Start by learning the lyrics: There's a man we call our Leader. He's fine and strong and brave, And we'll follow him unquestioning Towards an early grave. He-e gives us hope of sacrifice And a chance to die in vain, And if we're one of the lucky ones, We'll live to die again.
So I guess that means you'll just sit and contemplate life, or better still, watch some TV, hoping that someone else might do something. hahahaha. Get the beers in.
Democracy is no more trash than any other form of government that has been attempted so far. The "government" that will work is the one that is built from the ground up, with power flowing from the people. I believe that all governments forced on the common populace are doomed to result in growing tension and ultimately failure. Democracy, communism, etc, are all various forms of fascism that are founded in the belief that the common man cannot govern himself but that an elite few can. And of course these elite few, not really being all that enlightened themselves, fight tooth and nail to keep the commoners under their control. The only hope for a harmonious human experience on this planet is through the self actualization of the common man. He must become wise enough, responsible enough, and wordly enough to understand and do his part for humanity, to the best of his capability. At this point, government becomes obsolete. That is the ultimate goal, and anything else is just working with broken and flawed pieces. Do you really think what title you give your fascism matters? It's all an obstruction of the latent human will to do good that has been growing and developing for thousands of years. A necessary obstruction, I'll give you that, since the overwhelming majority of us aren't ready for such freedom, but some day the mold is gonna start to feel stifling and we'll emerge from that chrysalis a fully enlightened planet. All progress we make as a planet must be with that goal in mind. Any other end goal isn't shooting high enough and exists only to perpetuate a doomed and flawed system of misery that we've unfortunately and presumptuously labeled the human condition. Whatever you call your government, if the few control and regulate the many, it is bound to fail. I do agree that we need to use what we have and create a situation where the few are mobilizing themselves and the many towards enlightenment, and our current democracy is failing miserably towards that goal, but to call democracy trash while heaping accolades onto another system that creates the same dynamic (few> many) is ridiculous. If democracy is trash and not salvageable to you, then explain how your system is really any different. At least democracy relieves some of that stress and tension and prolongs the decay, potentially buying us time. You can break it down as much as you want but at the end of the day you either feel that humanity has the potential to govern itself (which I do) or you believe that we will always need to be regulated and controlled to prevent us from killing, robbing, raping etc. each other. I believe that as long as an elitist system of regulation and control exists, we will be a miserable people, and will continue to do these things these very governments were (presumably) set up to prevent us from doing. But maybe those in power will never allow a globally enlightened state to occur because they are so selfish and foolish that they'd rather rule over a miserable slum of a planet than share with billions (though if we do become self enlightened I suspect we will willingly curb our population to reach a more sustainable level as this is necessary for the life of our species) the dominion over a blooming and bountiful heaven on earth. As long as the world is populated by needy, starving, selfish people we will have the same problems. As long as the few control the many, we will be needy and selfish. Satisfy our needs, become self actualized, and the rest will write itself. Either way, if it results in heaven on earth as I believe or in the destruction of mankind as some might theorize, global self actualization is the inevitable goal of this species, whether most are conscious of it or not.
Oh my God... You people will never realize that the general public is too stupid to be able to run a government system. Its... well its just plain pitiful. Its not even worth reading long winded posts when in the first couple of sentence you read something about, "power to the people". GOD... I'm not going to argue against it, I know I'm right and I'm not going to prove it to you yolkals. If you can't figure something as easy as this out for yourself then you don't deserve to know. As for the white face dude... I don't watch TV, and I will do something when the time calls for it. But riots and standing out in the street with signs isn't it. That wont change a thing. Its not like the 60s and 70s where people cared about their political standing with the public, once one goes down they'll get a new puppet to stick up there. And yeah its deffenitly breakxeggs AAAAANNNNNDDDD I'm done in this thread, its no longer worth my time.
You have it right my friend. Democracy empowers people who are not genetically fit to handle power, and the responsibility of having it. Want an answer? Look toward the past. In pagan times (and even up till a couple hundred years ago), societies were structured around a hierarchy, in which heroic leaders, warriors, and philosophers were placed up top. Yeah, maybe the proles lose their self-rewarding, masturbatory democracy... who cares? People were happier in the ancient times of transcendent spirituality, respectful sufficiency, beautiful culture and pride... an age when the human race wasn't a moronic, depressed and suicidal failure, as it is now.
oh Breasteggs breaxxwind whateve is posting as ecocide now because his thread is that important - hahaha you are surely one sad fuchki breaxxwind - I tell you why - because it would be rare to find two assholes that believed the same neonazi fuckin trash that was actually spurted out of hitlers arse over the populace of germany ! its something he stole from musolini who in turn had stolen it from franco so fuck you !
This country always talks about family values and crap, and yet they always show heterosexual propoganda on the family channel, like them talking about a womans boobs. eww i find that disgusting and offensive, what would they do if the gay community complained, they would try to silence us. like they have been doing for many years. One of these days, i just want to go to a park with my boyfriend and make out with him in front of a family of four christians. That would freak the crap out of them. but it wouldn't get us anywhere. And what do the president and vice president have against homosexuality, aren't dick cheney's daughters lesbians? And this army dont ask dont tell policy, i hope every homosexual persons will vote for somebody that has gay rights, and not a republican. Anyway, whats with the policy, its like keeping us closeted, and that is a big ass nightmare. Its all republicans the reason why there is an unconstitutional ban on gay marriage. I want to move to canada.
First of all, the USA is not a Democracy, it is a Representative Republic. It was set up this way to prevent majority rule. Unfortunately since it was set up 200 years ago, it has disintegrated into a repressive government that does things "for your own good" We have allowed this to happen and must work on a way to change it. We need to quit supporting the two party system and get more libertarian candidates in office.
we do live in a two party system. regardless of what it stands for, not saying its good or bad, what about the green party? overall, pro green is catching on. it's yet to be seen. but the green party is more liberal and i could see a lot of good ideas piggy backing the green party. i am a libertarian by the way. political parties shouldn't exist? so we should just throw a bunch of issues out there and let people vote on them? bills passed tend to agree with each other. what happens if a couple pass and they don't agree? political parties can work but not in their current state. i think in order to make them work, we need to cycle people through offices a lot quicker. people get comfortable and it gives them time to pass major reforms. if something really big needs to happen, it will happen if the people show their support. slow change is good...
