    Hi everyone,

Not too long ago my cat brought in a big pidgeon and I think she got sick from it. I noticed over the last few days she's been getting slower and slower, looking more haggard, and passing out curled up in different spots in the house than she usually does (like in the middle of a room or hallaway). Usually she runs around all night, and she layed curled up in a corner the whole night last night. I thought it might have just been a passing illness, but she is getting really skinny now too and I dont know what to do.

I recently had to do an expensive car repair and will probably have to sell some of my stuff on ebay just to make it through the rest of the month. I cant afford a vet visit, or really anything.

Does anyone have advice or know how I can treat this?

I am very sorry. It sounds almost like poisoning to me. Has anyone in your neighborhood fertilized this week?

You could try giving Kitty a bath. (I know, easier said than done) If she got into something she shouldn't have, that would wash any residue off so she doesn't keep re-contaminating herself when she washes. Other than that, I'd call the vet & explain your circumstances - most places will let you make payments towards a bill if you ask ahead of time. Your kitty sounds so very sick and I'm afraid the ONLY thing I know to do is give them a bath - and that will only help her not get sicker; it won't cure her!

Do a search on the web for sites specifically for cats. They have message boards with folks who live and breath that stuff. You will likely have better luck there.

Try www.petoftheday.com/talk - friendly people there that will offer you advice, though to be honest theres not much anyone can tell you except get her to the vet.

Maybe you could just ring your vet and ask for advice? Would they not take her in for treatment and let you pay the bill off in installments? At least give them a ring - cant hurt to try.

Hopefully you have a good relationship with a vet. You can always ask if they will let you make payments. I did that with one of my dog's that had cancer.

You can try this web site. They help when you can't afford it.

Defintely get in contact with a vet. Usually vets will at least talk over the telley for nothing. Some may do pro bono or let you make payments. I understand $$$ problems, but the cat IS your responsibility and the responsible thing to do is seek medical help.
