I know this is kind of childish, but I can't help it. I've lost hope in America. There is absolutely no indication that things will start going right again. Power has been consilidated to a terrifying degree. People are stupider than ever. Major politicians are speaking openly about attacking Iran. Jobs are being shipped overseas by the thousands. All I want to do is get out of here.
I know how you feel Tripoli. But by jumping ship you can't change anything. The last election proved that people have started to wake up. It's up to the people to stand up and refuse to be used or marketed to. Lieberman and the neo-cons are hoping the public is getting tired of the bad news and they will fall for fear mongering again to gain their agenda. It's time to stand firm and demand answers. They don't have the answers. Hey Trent Lott stopped the vote of no confidence for Gonsales, by saying it was all partisan politics. Yes it was, it was all about the republicans trying to save the asses of poor performing flunkies. Now they want a pardon for Scooter Libby. I am not buying it are you? They hope to own the courts but now they've been told holding people for years without charges or recourse to the courts is counter to the constitution. We are making a difference. Don't lose hope.
You have more faith in them than I do. I read that males aged 20-28 make up the majority of the conservative American movement. That's pretty damned depressing. I agree with the rest of your post. It's pure Republicanism to use phrases like "pure politics" when practically everything that they themselves do is pure politics.
I dont believe in goverment "parties". There is no difference anymore the goal is the same. To see how much money they can aquire thru political legal loop holes as possible. As long as one dime of money can be paid to a single party by outside company intrest we will never have a goverment seeking to look out for the needs of the country itself and its people. Just think of the fact that other people from around the world believe the goverment reflects the views of the people. Now Im all for going in and dealing with Iran but back in like the early 80's when we had reason to for kidnapping our people from a hi jacked airline but shit it is pretty stupid now. We look like a shit hole already so why dont we just accept our losses and pack up, change some policy, force our own people to live within thier means, tighten the belt alot and rebuild our once powerful nation. No more foreign aid until we are secure, we are taking money from other countries to stay afloat. We cant afford to give away money and stuff if we have to ask for money from others for ourselves.
If we don't allow our constitution to be eroded any further than it already is the people still have the power. They didn't think the repubs would meet the losses they did in 2006. You know what it's time we stopped voting by party and voted on proven acts by said politicians. Either you perform or we can find someone else. They should never feel so secure in their government jobs that they ever feel safe to sell us out again. Hell the average man is no longer secure in his job why should they be. And people like Lieberman who get voted out at a primary and find support from the opposing party should be looked at even more skeptically.
All those dems that said they made a mistake voting for the war in Iraq should no longer hold any office. That's how we will make a difference. And this includes Hillary.
try this - in 1978 a newspaper in britain toppled an entire government with a single headline - it read "If [Labour leader] Neil Kinnock wins today, will the last person to leave Britain please turn out the lights" get a big newspaper to try that
Yeah but they said that in the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, i think they took a break in the 90s but then they are saying it again in the 00s. Its the same story. The world is ending. All is lost. Give up hope. Get a grip. The world is not ending. The country is free. The economy is healthy. The weird thing is you don't want those things to be true. You're more comfortable with doom and gloom.
