You know what's weak? People who sit at home and bust other peoples' balls for not doing something that they themselves aren't willing to do.

If I was a guy I would have gone in. I am a girl and I don't think the military is an appropriatte place for me so instead I do things I am better suited at to make the world a better place. I embrace my femininity and use it to the world's and my own advantage. I don't hide it and pretend I am a man and learn how to shoot a gun and go fight in combat in coed facilities and distract men in the military.

There are women excelling in combat roles in most world militaries today. Three of my 7 supervisors were women. One could outscore me on the firing range and the other two could outrun me. You don't think you can do it. Fine. Don't break anyone else's balls for not doing it, no matter the reason. And don't deny anyone else's right to serve their country

I am breaking people's balls who bash troops, but wouldn't have the balls to go in. I am in awe of people who do it because I wouldn't be able to do it.-big difference; Let's please not forgot that main point I was making.

 

i'm a pacifist. i wouldn't join the military, nor would i want my son or daughter to join, but that's because i personally think WAR IS DUMB, not because i'm afraid i'll let the cookies burn or chip a nail or get a run in my girly little stockings or something.


perhaps my thinking's all wrong. maybe i should change my ways. do you think that if i quit being such a slut and doing unladylike things like working and thinking and being responsible, god will give me a shiny pink star for bing a good girl?

The big difference is that you won't leave your high importance job and your Master's Degree to do something you can do but refuse to do because you think you can't.

If you were offered the opportunity to make a difference, a BIG difference, let's say a grass roots organization goes into Iraq after the war to get Iraqi women out of burquas and into mainstream society, not as property, and they offered to feed, clothe and house you for one year, would you go?

PS- and bear in mind that this is all conjecture, read Kitty's opinion on the military, we share that even though I'm a vet.

 

how's what you're doing working for you? I know what I am doing is working great for me.

I am younger than you, college educated, make quite a bit more than you, am happy, am rarely mistreated in relationships because I don't castrate who I am with,am accepted into multiple graduate programs AND still appreciatte that I am feminine, love working with kids, actually get off on doing my boyfriend's laundry, want to be a housewife after I acheive my personal goals, take care of myself and never go anywhere besides the grocery store or hiking without make-up.
So I am not sitting here batting my eyelashes sweety...I have far more to think about. Most women are just too lazy to embrace both sides of them or they subconsiously don't think they deserve someone taking care of them. Just because I think I shouldn't have to do it all doesn't mean I don't want to do it all or don't do it all.

 

Was standing up to Hitler dumb? War should be a last resort, but sometimes it is quite necessary. And you should thank your lucky stars other parents have allowed their sons and daughters to join the military, or you would not sleep so comfortably in your bed at night.

i am not in awe of those fighting in iraq right now. i have to say i don't understand their decision at all. however, i would not "bash the troops" because that is not a peaceful act, either.


i think war is dumb. i am keeping a CO file for my son AND daughter, and i actively oppose the war in iraq. i think the US spends too much on war and not enough on veterans, and if healthcare or education got a fraction of the kind of extravagant budget the military gets, then we'd have a better place. i don't think excessive military spending makes us any safer than taking care of our people and not acting so stupid we piss others off in the first place.


that being said, i am not so much a control freak as to deny anyone their choice to do something i find dispicable although i'd rather see that choice be a true, educated choice, not an economic draft fueled by false promises and propaganda. if we really valued our service men and women, why are so many veterans in poverty, with inadequate job training and poor health care? isn't that what we promised them they'd avoid by enlisting? but if, in light of all that, someone else decised they still want to sign their humanity away to the fight for oil & US corporate interests - er, i mean, freedom and justice - well, then that's their choice, not mine. and that choice should be made by their consience. not their gender. or for that matter, their sexual orientation.

because my whole self-esteem is based on how much money i make and whether or not i am perceived as feminine by shallow suits who are so insecure they feel castrated by anyone who has both tits and self-worth.

then again, it might just be because i'm hormonal.

I currently manage a region of no-cost after-school care sites, but am leaving because I want a lesser position out of management so i can get a position spending more time directly working with kids.My last day of work is Friday. I am going for my MFT/MSW...those kinda aren't what 'high importance job' type people go for. I want a mft so I can make a bigger difference than I am now...and because you can do it part-time while your kids are in school when they get older. I don't see what is wrong with me ebracing both sides and excelling in a field that really best suits a female.
i've worked for grassroots organizations before and loved it. Unfortunatley I am at a point where I am ready to settle down in life and work on making my immediate community a better place.
I'm not saying I am a saint. I shop at target, by clothes made in hongkong, tupperware made in china etc. I sometimes put the recycling int he regular garbage if the big recyling bin outside is full. I just really want to leave the world a better place and I think I am doing it my way and it's a lot more impactful than if I joined the military because I am very feminine and would most likely cause more chaos because I know I am not cut out for it emotionaly or physically.
