hi my Bible study wants to do some group activities this summer, and i thought it would be cool to go camp at yosemite and hike for a few days, but i can't figure out how to plan it.

the websites i have found are confusing, and i can't figure out what to do. can anyone give me specific instructions on how to get camping reservations? i don't know which site to turn to, and i really want to go camping with everyone.

all i need to know is how to reserve a campsite, how much it will cost, and where the campsite is located. we'd want to get the campsite within a month to a month and a half- i hope that's enough time for the campground to get us a spot. we'd be a group of maybe 20 adults.

    can anyone please help me?

    thank you so much!

Here is the official website: http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/camping.htm

Here are the campgrounds: http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/campground.htm Look at them and decide which one you want to go to. I don't know anything about Yosemite but I assume it is similar to the Smokies. With 20 people you will need to get a group campsite.

"Group campsites are available all year at Wawona Campground, and during summer at Hodgdon Meadow, Bridalveil Creek, and Tuolumne Meadows Campgrounds."

So look at the campgrounds that have group sites that will let you all camp together at one site. Otherwise you will have to get several sites which typically only allow something like 6 people per site, which may or may not be together and which will probably wind up costing you more money. Prices vary between campgrounds but are listed on each campground's webpage.

Go here to make reservations online by clicking on the campground on the right under the heading "Make a Reservation"
    http://www.recreation.gov/recAreaDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&recAreaId=2991&agencyCode=128

Or call the phone number listed on the official website.

I hope this helps. Have fun! :)

If you've never been before and are planning on going to yosemite I would make sure you educate yourself and your fellow campers on BEAR SAFE ways to store food. And general hiking safety when in an area where there are bears.

Make sure you don't try to do too much. Maybe just a hike would be good until you get used to the whole "packing for the wilderness" thing? If you don't go prepared in any other sense make sure your food is packaged and stored BEAR SAFE and that you bring PLENTY of WATER and a lighter to aid you in starting a fire. With WATER and FOOD properly packed and brought along with a readily available way to start a fire any other issues you run into will merely be inconvenient and a learning experience. Leave out either of those three things and it could be a really bad time.
