Why do they call it DARE anyways? It sounds like their challenging you to try drugs lol. And most people are definatley up for that challenge :)

Yeah it'd be funny to dig up some of the old DARE books and whatnot to see the idiotic shit that was forced into our heads. Unbelievable to me now, but back then i really bought into it. Up to the first time i took a hit of a joint, i was really afraid of all drugs because the DARE system really messed with my mind. I guess this proves that you really need to question everything you were taught/told as a kid....because if this is a hoax, what other limiting restrictions which have been placed upon our minds since a very young age could be hoaxes? Someone should really start a campaign which points out the falsehoods of dare called like "The Real Deal"- kids need to know what's really true and we should point out both the good (many) as well as the bad (few) aspects of marijuana...all other drugs can remain under DARE's structure as far as i'm concerned...maybe not mushrooms...i'll have to try them and i'll get back to you on that...

I didn't buy into DARE because my school didn't have it. We had "Project Charlie" instead. Basically I bought into all of that crap until fourth grade when I first toked. In fifth grade, I seemed to be the most knowledgable on it. The volunteer didn't like me because I was well-educated in 'the truth' and could prove her wrong. Oddly, there was no drug education program the next year, it would of been D.A.R.E if we had it though. Only alternative school had an anti-drug thing.

D.A.R.E. did a lot for me at the time in fifth grade. Hell, I even wrote this huge-ass anti-drug essay and was chosen to read it in front of the entire school. I'd always said that I'd never try ANYTHING underage or illegal up until just before tenth grade.

I always smoke in my D.A.R.E. shirt...mostly because I don't have to worry about getting any smell(s) into my regular clothing. Plus I kind of like the irony. The shirt is hilarious. I can tell that the people who created the design for it were trying so hard to make it look "hip" and "new."

I don't know. D.A.R.E. is good in theory, but I think it's safe to say that it doesn't always work... I mean, I was the biggest goody-goody going and I wrote that huge freaking essay...and, well, tenth grade came along and I decided to experiment. I don't regret it. What I regret, actually, is writing that essay and getting a medal for it. I didn't stick to what I said I would.

    Eh, whatever.

As much as the irony of a stoner wearing a DARE shirt is amusing, I will never ever own any DARE paraphernalia because I will not be a walking advertisement for DARE. I worked in a store where DARE was welcome to collect donations. I would prefer people not to give DARE any more funding.

The only way I would wear a DARE shirt would be if I altered it to say something along the lines of TRUTH or DARE? Facts are worth more compared to exaggerations and straight out lies. What is the Drug Abuse Resistance Education movement not telling you?

Not really. Their goal is to keep kids off drugs, a lot of us did drugs as a kids, so how did it work at all? lol Just because we discuss about how crappy DARE was it means nothing about DARE working. In fact it is just the opposite.
