If you're in francines path and have nowhere to evacuate to, we're in Port charlotte, 60 miles north of naples. We figure to be 120 miles or more from the eye. We have lots of leakage in two rooms, but the house is still solid. All are welcomed. If you are in francine's path, take it from someone who rode Charley, RUN. Run for your life.
well said gecko. i have some relatives in Punta Gorda who rode out Charley, and now half of their house is gone. i'm up in Tampa... this area was lucky. but it looks like we might end up getting more wind and rain from Frances than we did from Charley. this is serious shit...
Hope everyone does allright...I was in Daytona for a few years, but there weren't any BIG ones when I was there... the weather.com pic that freaked me a bit was this one(along with my outlines...heh heh):
that mofo is about to eat Cuba for a snack http://www.weather.com/maps/news/atlstorm6/francescloseupsatellite_large.html
Enjoy your electricity now. It'll be gone all too soon and probably for a long time. Some of us here in Florida will probably die in this storm, if it hits as currently forecast. Most of us though are simply about to live through something that we'll likely never forget. I'll be online from Brooksville as long as the phone lines are working, regardless of power loss.
It took 13 days to get our power back after charley. But take heart- there are a SHITLOAD of people out there ready to help. Hooray for the Red Cross! Good luck!
a definite pain in the ass. looks like the worst we'll get on the west coast is flooding and some wind damage. probably no roofs torn off like on the east coast. but this thing is going to fuck up most of the peninsula. i think it's pretty obvious what's going on here... god is trying to sink florida back into the ocean... but seriously... be safe everybody!
mother earth is punishing florida for being the state that put an idiot man of war in the presidential office. it's Karma.
we didnt have power from charley for about 5 days.. so i guess we were very lucky. Its scary how we can watch this thing just come at us. because of charley we didnt have school for a week and i volunteered for the salvation army emergency crew. It made me so mad when people would say they were bored and had nothing to do, there were so many people who needed their help.
yes there is much work to do. we should use these trying times to understand how dependent on our local society we are! people always pull together in a time of crisis. love
yeah, it's going to be a full two days of this shit. i'm thinking about going out and getting some last minute provisions before the next bands of the storm move through. hopefully we won't lose power. but if we do... thank god i've got my acoustic guitar
All I ever wanted for christmas was more waves in the ocean and now if you go they make you look like an ass on TV. They kept showing some dude on the news today so they could arrest him for jumping off a pier. after charley there were good waves. Last nite I went out to a bar and EVERYONE was there.
