    ......................................................................................

I'm going to perform a little hijacking here, and ask you your thougthts
on The US military operation to overthrow the Goverment of Haiti during
President Clintons term. The US operation against Serbia during the same administration.

We were all told by our press and political pundits that these operations were a great thing, and that we were selfish by not doing Rawanda too

america is always busy overthrowing other governments maybe the standards they expect of the rest of the world community should be imposed on them

asking other people what they think about invading, bombing and destabilising democratically governments or otherwise would be really helpful

if i were the national of a country being attacked for no reason other than some vague unsubstantiated reason i would have no hesitation to help man the defensives to ensure the safety of the women and children. if the "enemy" cannot be reasoned with, ensuring the safety of myself and of my community would be high priority. most wars are preventable. in ww2 the european community had no other choice but to defend itself from the nazi government, likewise the japanese government and italian.

i notice that none of the war mongers of this site are prepared to do likewise

what does ths say to you?

    ps

sad to say i'm no expert on the details of every state america has ever invaded, theres just too many. perhaps you can tell me something?

Americans were told by our media and press pundits
that it was honorable and humanitarian to go after
the Serbian regime. That Miloslivic & Co. were
killing lots of innnocents in the name of ethnic cleansing.

We were told that Gen. Raoul Cedras of Haiti had staged
an illegal coup. America could do the right thing to change
the goverment of Haiti for the betterment of the population.

The mainstream media was wholly behind these moves.
The Congressional Black Caucus practically sponsored the Haiti liberation.
The American Left was solid in support of regime change in Haiti.

You learn something new every day - i thought it was one of those commonly held beliefs .

I'm done [i've stuck a fork in it] with this thread - i just wanted to know what your last comment meant ?.

well you see there is no meaning in essence

    our positions are entrenched.

i suppose we might find some common ground in vegetables or other stuff i suppose. political belief is set like concrete for most people. any new information is cast aside. we are entrenched in two opposing positions, i have started the thread and you have entered it.

strange times throw up strange debates.

So you saying ''i'll take that as a yes'' meant nothing ?.
You saying ''don't feel bad'' meant nothing ?.
If your going to make flippant remarks atleast explain them.
Well I don't cast aside new information - if it is true and can be backed up [fact not opinion].
I also have to wade through some peoples responses that don't actually relate to what i'm saying and responding too.
Just like now- all i'm asking is what your initial comment meant - now you decide to ignore that and talk about vegetables -

I'm quitting the thread because you have answered all the questions I have and you are willing to answer. I think i've answered all your questions and responded to you as much as I can.

Not if those people are open minded and consider new ideas. Close minded people are what poison the world.

    closed minds?

this thread attracts them like nothing else

i always like to rest those "closed minds" occasionally (to allow them to lick their wounds as any civillised person would - its only sporting to do so).

this thread won't change their minds about anything regardless of any "facts" nor will any logic, so its much better for me to amuse myself.

i look forward to entertaining the next "surge" of them.
