I know that once you start your period you are supposed to come on every month for 5-7 days... but I started mine about a year ago and I have been almost a month late... WHY??!?!? its really bugging me...
Could you possibly be pregnant? Are you stressed out? Are you sick? Some of these things can cause a delay in menstruation, stress is a big factor in that. Talk to your doctor if you're really worried. Also, try posting this in the Women's Issues forum.
be cool, you're perfectly okay. it's kind of erratic for the first year or so, and even after that, it's not always on time, for various reasons like kittymoose said. it'll stabilize eventually, i promise! take care of yourself and things will work themselves out. peace!
Firstly, with regards to pregnancy, have you been having unprotected sex recently? If not, then the likelihood that you're pregnant is very low. In my opinion, being 15 and not having had your period for that long, it makes sense for you to be irregular. I'm 26 and have had my period since i was 10 (a bloody long time). I still have an irregular period as some girls just do. A good idea is to keep a record of when your period starts and finishes. After 6 months or so, you will be able to see a pattern and even mention this to your doctor. It is possible for your period to be a few weeks late, but it you still don't get after a long while, longer than 4 or 5 weeks, i'd go to the doctor, because this is not normal. It doesn't mean you are pregnant. Maybe you have had medications recently or an illness, that has messed with your cycle. There are numerous reasons for being late and if you are that worried, the easiest and simplest thing to do is to go to your doctor. I realise you might find this very personal, but doctor's are trained for this and will understand and talk with you about this calmly, with a trusting manner. Take care and don't worry unless you have to.
I used to have really late periods, sometimes 2 months late. I thought it was just cause i was young, and i needed some time to adjust. But then, my mom made me quit track because of my grades, and soon after, my periods were regular. I did research and it turns out i was working my self to hard. Im already really skinny, and with all the running, it messed up w/ my hormones or something and thats why i was really late all the time. That was my scenario, im not necisarily saying thats what you are going through, but if your a hard working athlete, it might be the case.
