i had arranged to meet my boss before 6 tonight to pick up my check, and he skipped out on me. i'm going to have to go without breakfast and possibly lunch tomorrow before i can pick it up, and running the extra errand is going to eat into the time i'm supposed to b spending with my kids. i love the Geva, but this really pisses me off.
I mean, if you come to work on time and do your job, why wouldn't you expect to be paid on time....I know I would... and I'd be pissed.
not if you're expected to be to work on time and actually do anything useful when you're there. accounting is not however an instantanious proccess, so checks are generally issued, if you're getting paid by the half (every other week, the most common practice for non-managerial possitions), on the basis of the two week period that ended a week before the actual, regular, predictable pay date. also if you don't receive your check AT YOUR PLACE OF WORK, during you're regularly assigned work hours, something a little (if not DAMD) fishey is going on here. this is why we have, or used to have, when any of it actually worked, these things called unions. =^^= .../\...
the checks were in friday. he's not allowed to give them to us until sunday, and we aren't allowed to cash them until 9 am monday. i was at my place at work to pick up the check at the appointed time. he wasn't there. it's not just the issue with the checks. there's tension between the call center and the box office and i feel caught in the middle and am damn sick of it. so i put in my 2 week's notice. i'm expecting the settlement from the lawsuit we won to arrive any day (according to the lawyers) and then i'm leaving rochester anyway. i love love love that theatre! geva was is, and always will be a very, very special place to me. but i prefer the drama stay on the stage, and away from my paycheck.
