what's your personal atittude to such ppl?
and what's the general atittude in your country?

in russia ppl are so angry and unjust to such ppl that makes me really sad and indignant. they say AIDS ppl shouldnt have children/have no right to have a decent work or no work at all/should live separately/mustnt have any contacts with healthy people....

i personaly think there's nothing wrong with these ppl except the disease itself (but who's abs healthy anyway?)

    what do ya think?

I am positive but sometimes i get really rude sometimes because here in Lebanon there is too much anger and everybody is always nervous because of our situation
but the general attitude is that they love to have fun alot and whatever happend you will just see them throwing everything away and went to have fun because everybody just had enought
and about AIDS subject i have done recently a Project about it and i saw some real bad cases and in my Opinion we should help those ppl because
there are alot of problems ppl are having we don't know about
    like poverty
those ppl need some real help and some real direction and who is infected by this
hmmm well ! unfortuntly they will gonna die soon ! so all we have to do is help them with their final days !
    AT LEAST !
    ( RAYMONDA FROM LEBANON )
    PEACE .

I don't really have anything against people with AIDS, but I can't help but feel more for people with diseases like cancer...because there wasn't much they could do about it. With AIDS, there are ways around it. Sometimes there are unfortunate situations with people who've contracted the disease without being aware or doing anything wrong, but overall I think it's way more preventable than many other fatal diseases.

I don't have anything against them. I haven't been in a contact with someone who has aids cause i think that in Macedonia there are like only 20 - 30 infected people.
I wouldn't mind them beeng near me, but honestly i still think that i would be scared to have a closer contact with them (just some kind of mental hypohondry) even thoy i know hov i can get it.

Well yes it's all in the head like ''marija'' said
but AIDS comes from poverty , irresponsibility , ignorance
so the cases are diffrent from one person to other

There are more, trust me...There are maybe 30 registered ones, but there are more who maybe don't even know that they're ill...
Few days ago I read a story about couple of ex drug addicts in their 40s who have aids. They try to help young people and educate them about this awful desease, but they get no understanding. They even couldn't get a decent job over years because everyone was afraid how the other workers would react...
Some people will always stay in their narrow-mindness....

AIDS is terrible, and I have nothing but sympathy for those who have it.

Especially people in countries where it can't be treated, or children who were born with HIV.

There are people in the United States who say that AIDS is a punishment for homosexuality, but they're obviously ridiculous.

AIDS is an incredibly cruel and merciless disease. My uncle died of it, and he was reduced to nothing by the end. I was only 6 at the time, but I remember my fathr actually layed down in the hospital bed with him...he didn't care what others thought.

I think it's awful how AIDS is so connected to homosexuality. Even in this day and age, it's considered a "gay" disease. This stigma could not be more wrong...

HIV/AIDS, it's just another deliberating ailment in my opinion, it shouldn't be viewed any less than other fatal ailments.

HIV needs to penetrate someones cell membrane i believe, so essentially a blood to blood contact,
Therefore, i really wouldn't care if someone was my waiter, barrister, mailman, teacher, doctor, etc.

man, why are there only 30 ppl ill with AIDS in Macedonia?
is it such a small country?

in russia there are thousands of such ppl
and they are treated VERY badly

recently i've seen a tv poll "would ya hire a person who's ill with AIDS?"
and most ppl said "NO!" in a very categoric way
and the wrst thing is they couldnt even explain why not

Funny thing, as kids, we never knew AIDS really to be a 'homosexual disease'.
I don't seem to remember it being that prominant an issue around here -

I'm sure that older people were aware of the stigma, but hell, i didn't even know what being gay was back then =/

I've lived around and worked with many HIV positive people. Many were also friends.

AIDS hit the public consciousness when I was in school (early to mid 80s.).
It was something only seen in gay communities, but that was a tiny window of time.
between the gay male community getting smart about how unprotected sex gave the virus a helping hand to the quick spread into heterosexuals.
Once straight women started betting diagnosed as at least HIV positive, it became everyone's problem, and popular opinion swung to the "let's cure this" mentality.
In 1988, I lost a friend to AIDS. our circle of friends had some free love aspects, and we were a small dating pool with a high percentage of bisexual males.
I was removed from Dean by one partner. And the connection was linked by my then partner (twice) and my previous to him partner had a fling with Dean's main bf.

I was tested for the first time the week he announced his diagnosis, and the reaction of people at the clinic was strange.
This was their first experience with a lot of females!

given that experience, and watching many neighbors rebuild their lives after positive test results, I do think of this as a disease that hit the gay community. It robbed the best and brightest in a way.
I do not see it as SIMPLY a disease of the gay community.
I know the ripples into the rest of society and the impacts around the world (India is the nation with the highest number of cases.) for people of all sexual identities and even those who do not yet have one, such as children.

I live in Washington, DC and I think that most people are compassionate towards people with AIDS. At least that is what I have noticed with the people that I know, but I'm sure that not everyone is this way. I'm just glad I don't have to be around the types of people that aren't compassionate.
