getting the most out of your birth chart?

i have a friend who is drawing up a birth chart for me in exchange for a tarot reading. i've had birth charts done before, but they were computerized and i didn't really understand them in depth.

How do I make the most of the information presented to me in my birth chart for making positive changes and wise decisions? For example, she told me my chart is showing a tendency towards housing troubles, which i have had in the past. i'm coming into some money soon and will be making some life-altering decisions, including decisions about housing. now, i am not planning on basing these decisions on astrology, not by a long shot. i'm a professional card-reader and i wouldn't base a decision soley on the tarot, either. but as i've never had a chart done by an astrologer before, and don't even know how to read one, i am curious to know the best way to extract useful information to take into consideration with other factors in the decision making process. will there be other information in the chart, for example, that might add insight to why i have had repeated housing difficulties and how to change that pattern?

You could look at your North and South Nodes. That may provide a clue.

For monthly planning I look to new and full Moons, with eclipses showing possible great changes. Find out what sign and degree the new and full moons fall into, then map them over your natal chart. (There are a few books out there on forcasting with new and full Moons and eclipses.) You may alsdo want to get into Progressed charts, relocation and solar returns.
