i keep getting called to the principals office because im not wearing shoes... the dress code states that appropriate footwear must be worn at all times.... i find it rather peculiar that girls whos skirts are so revealing that they might as well be naked and guys who let their asses hang out of their pants all day dont get in trouble for breaking the dresscode.. but when i dare go barefoot its a major crisis.. i wish there was something i could do to make the school leave me alone... its my choice to not wear shoes... i dont believe in wearing shoes.... why do i have to wear shoes? any ideas of what i should do?
Say that very agruement about your barefootness to the principle. Ask why girls are walking around half naked and being left alone and your being hounded.
Um...it has to do with health laws and the insurance companies, not a dress code. They can't get fined for short skirts.
There are no barefoot health laws in existance in the US. On the topic though, I would say fight it out, but this will be a very difficult fight to win. Don't let it discourage you though.
Health risk if they said you could go barefoot and your feet get cut on a piece of glass you could sue them. Its not thier fault.
Sun.shine, check this from Barefooters.org: http://www.barefooters.org/health-dept/WA2002.html Their main site: http://www.barefooters.org/ you may find this interesting too: http://www.barefooters.org/key-works/BarefootRights.html But remember, rules (or laws) don't have to make sense to be rules (or laws). Peace, poor_old_dad
I know how you feel. A few months ago our school decided that from now on girls weren't aloud to wear pants any more. They were all set to make us by slightly transparent, pleated skirts all above the knee. (Slightly creepy right?) But all the girls got together and signed a huge petition against it. When that didn't work we all wrote letters to the head mistress and refused to buy the new uniform. Eventually it worked! We can wear pants! Anyway, what I'm saying is; stand up for your rights and what you believe in. Peace and love to one and all.
Forget me not, I thought by pants you ment underwear. There's my derenged littile mind at work. Still, it's a bit hypocritital about barefooting. Well most schools are!
aw...they stupid thingies!!!! send them to hell keep on walking barefoot, they'll get used to it i hate dress code!!!
For god's sake, uniforms in schools are the stupidest thing ever!...How do they expect to raise creative youth with unique individuals if we wear same clothes?!...Luckily, we didn't have uniforms and I don't think we ever will... On the other hand, going barefoot is a bit risky, but if you feel good doing it, noone can stop you, it's your choice...Talk to the principal... And, girls are not aloud to wear pants?!?!?!?!@#$%^&*()!!!!!!
I suppose it is majorly a health and insurance issue, but I also think that bare feet are actually sexier than a short skirt. They are so out there, completely naked, plump and wiggly, capable and dexterous, and extremely sensual. You feel wild and free. ! It would too distracting , and no one would get any school work done.
ok... so i didnt wear shoes after i was told to... and one week later the securtiy guard comes and escorts me out of class... to explain to me how if he catches me without shoes again he will suspend me.... apparently now not wearing shoes is a security crisis. this is so crazy man.
Hah, count yourself lucky, we not only had uniforms, we had THE most ugly uniforms ever. Green and white pinstripe blazers UGH. Still every now and then we were allowed to wear our own clothes to school and I always came barefoot (except in the depths of winter when it's really not nice to walk in frost), with all me tie-dye, lit up the room like a fuckin' rainbow. Always got shit from teachers, though. But, my argument was always this: you allow us to wear our own clothes, including our free choice of footwear, yes? Therefore, no footwear is also a choice. Fight the power! Take back your right to be barefoot!
that's actually funny, you know, but let me tell you something, here in tunisia we have to wear a robe, only girls have to ,wear it, it's an ugly thing, trust me we call it "mandilla" dunno how to discribe it, so i guess...comparing to this you judje yourself
I'm sorry to say that I don't think they will let you win this. It is most definitely an issue of health risks and insurance. Not saying that you would sue them, but if they let you go barefoot they have to let other people and those other people might sue.
Izzie's right. You might as well insist they let you smoke weed in the lunchroom. They ain't gonna do it no way no how because there's laws against it and such. Sometimes ya just have to put up with shit. Don't waste your energy hassling over it. Figure out something creative you can do to express your feelings. Paint a picture of it, draw a cartoon, write a protest song about it, make up an interpretive dance, write a play about it, do something to work it out creatively and spiritually. But don't just keep butting your head against the man's wall. You'll just end up with a dam sore head.
