But i've got this realy good idea for a job....

    Buy a streach of land

    Buy a load of tee-pees

    Buy some yurts

    Make some tree houses

Rent the tee-pees, yurts and tree houses as a speacial campsite.

Do you wreckon ity would work?

I can recommend one in Looe in Cornwall - honestly go to Looe and the campsite on top of the cliffs there is brilliant - theres enough space to almost be private and a good sea view about 2 mins walk from your tent

    In North Cornwall ! :)

Does kinda depend on your specification though really, give us an idea what your looking for, i.e. full amenities or just a field, near the coast near the moors, just you or a family.

I wouldn't go with Paul's idea but I think there are definately a lot of campsites in cornwall. Perhaps Newquay and Penzance.

The Eden project is a must so somewhere at St Austell. I mean there are plenty of webpages with camping sites but as you know its always best to get an unbiased opinion, hence the thread knowing a lot of you could help.

Other than that I'm not sure. I'm only going down for three nights so I guess I don't want to be travelling too much. Saint Ives gets me simply for the Tate and the artist community but I have a feeling it maybe a bit Disneyland; is it?
Therefore I'll probably be staying on the northern coast, but not knowing Cornwall very well I was hoping for some sincere and genuine suggestions of places and good sites.

I'm very thankfull to you all who have helped so far.

A trip to St Austell from the north is in the region of 2 hrs by car.

You may also want to consider Tintagel, and even a trip on the Moors may be preferable to St Ives, depends on your frame of mind but I find the south a bit too touristy myself.

I like cheap as chips camping, you get a better class of person usually and often access to an evening fire as well, which will be unlikely on the commercial sites. My cousin uses a local field very regular for his van and tents.

I was looking at Tintagel, simply for the Arthurian reference. Yeah, I'm a wanker at heart. The cheap as chips suggestion is what I was thinking about. The last thing I wanted to do was set up camp next to the Jones and their £80,000 caravan talking about the Smiths and their barbecue set; know what I mean!

But thanks again Dap for the info, it is much appreciated.

There's a wicked campsite on the cliffs over Polzeath. It's a farm, but I can't remember the name of it. Wicked little place though...amazing views.

Crackington Sands is also a pretty cool place to go camping. :)

Thanks for that Nay, it's a possibility and where we were looking to go to. Is it a small and quiet site without a huge caravan park?

Dap, you did mention something about the cheap as chips sites, are there any of them around Tintagel?

    At which one?

Crackington is a pretty quite place. Polzeath is a surf and bodyboad town and so, gets pretty hectic over the summer. However, it's still a nice part of Cornwall. :)

Nothing specific but you should be able to find a pitch for about £5 a night. Do let us know if you make it to this part of the world.

Well I'm travelling down to Tintagel, yes I have created an action plan, of sorts. This will be the 16th - 19th July (Monday - Thursday). I guess closer to the time I will message. I've given myself two weeks off and intend to slowly make my way back 'norf' stopping at Bath, Abergavenny and Middleton, Manchester meeting up with some old pals.

I am looking forward to Cornwall though, it will be the first time I've been there. I was looking at Crackington which from its web page looked a busy place, but if you're saying its quiet Nay then all could be good.:)

    Thanks again.

Hmmmmm it always used to be quiet, I guess it got more popular.
My step-dad is a Cornish, but also a keep camper... I'll ask him if he can recommend any quiet places and I'll get back to you. :)

    Yo Mellow...

My step-dad recommended Wheal Rodney, which is near Marizion (North Cornwall). It's on the waterfront and has a beach.
They said it was really quiet most of the time, has access to main towns, if you need it...is on the coast and St Michael's Mount is close by, I believe.

You can check it out online...I found a website here: http://www.whealrodney.co.uk/

Hope this helps, if not...I will go back to them and ask them to recommend some others.
