My new obsession. I really do think I'm addicted. Any other fans out there? If so, favorite songs? Woodstock would probably be the song I've repeated the most to listen too.
Yes it's a great song but i also think that one of her most famous songs: 'a case of you' is also a very amazing song... just like she is
Omg, your obsessed too? Wow, finally some other people. She's all i've been listioning to for thepast month.. I like pretty much all of her songs... i personally like " You turn me on i'm a radio" and "cary", and "both sides now" I did my "greatest canadian" project on her too.
thats funny ive been starting to get into joni Mitchell too.. i like the song she did in the last waltz i think its called coyote.. pretty sick.. i read somewhere that she tuned her guitar like completely different from anyone else so it was hard to play with her ... pretty cool
I find as the years go by there are TONS of Joni fans out there. It's good to see a new generation take a liking to her - she's still appreciated. Does my heart good. At one time or another I've had all her albums, which have since been replaced with CDs. It's just due to forgetfulness or my new obsession with lounge music that has kept me from completing the collection I had growing up. I even had all her song/music books, and made feeble attempts. Favorite Songs: Don Juan's Reckless Daughter - the points she makes in this song about the dualities we all have within ourselves, really hits home. Funny, haunting and true for a lot of us. On the album by the same name. Sweet Bird - talks about the shallow promises of beauty products, the loss of youth and dealing with aging. Beautifully done song, on Hissing of Summer Lawns album. Coyote - From Hejira. Harry's House/Centerpiece - Hissing of Sumer Lawns again. About a woman who married well, to a business man, he's never home, she's sick of the sofa, dealing with kids. One line reads "Shining hair and shining skin, shining as she reeled him in, to tell him like she did today, just what he could do with Harry's house, and Harry's take-home pay". I had to grin the first time I hear THAT line. And, Little Green. About giving her dauther up for adoption. I have a long story about that. Short version is I gave up a son at 16 - and that song came out just before or just after I'd signed the papers. The lyrics were a bit veiled - but if you'd been through it, you knew wha she was talking about. And, all her standards, and all the original early works. She's just amazing.
I love Joni Mitchell! My favourite song is little green (from the album blue) which was inspired by the baby she had to give up for her career. I also like California and Carey from the same album.
i saw joni mitchell perform in the eighties at a benefit concert, she rocks,,,i have always enjoyed her music~ Peace~Love~Light
I couldn't help to notice that your Sig is off "Hair" which is a coincidence because i just watched Hair for the first time this morning.
I am absolutely obsessed with joni...my favorite albums are Blue, Hejira, and Mingus, and my favorite songs are "a case of you," "the wolf that lives in lindsey" and particularly "song for sharon"... she has her first album of new material coming out on august 25th and i am beyond excited!
Why is it that all these old folk-musicians that played over several decades always worsens when the 70's begins? I really like Joni Mitchell's stuff from the 60's (just two albums), and the rest of her stuff I just can't grip. Same with Joan Baez...
Joni Mitchell was fantastic in her early days! The Circle Game is my favourite song by her, followed by Both Sides Now. Other songs I love are River, Coyote, Amelia, Woodstock, California, etc. And she's Canadian, too! (as am I).
Joni Mitchell is amazing. Her Hejira album with Jaco Pastorious is folk music at it's finest. if you ask me.
Joni mitchell.. yeah, amazing musician, I have to say court and spark is my favourite album from her, a very unique voice she has, and musical styling at that.
joanie is a beautiful beautiful dove of melodious energy. i absolutely adore her talented soul- i do not worship her because she is merely but a human being yet if i did she would be my number one! basically her poetry is so soft yet the volume it speaks to your soul so loud. it caters to every itch in the emotional compartment.. every ache&leak. wow this creature of light&warmth absolutley astounds me!
actually im a bigger fan of her later stuff...hejira is one of the best albums ive ever heard in my life...her late 70s music is just harder to grip, but trust me, once you get it, you love it...ive listened to joni every day of my life for years...
I'm back again with a new favourite song! Big yellow taxi! I sang it in school for a music performance, my friend accompanied me on guitar. We were no where near as good as she was but we liked to think of it as our thankyou to her for inspiring us. Peace and love wished your way brothers and sisters! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
