It can be unhealthy to stop your period. The pills that stop your period are on a 3 month cycle. You only have your period ever 3 months.

I do know that any hormonal birth control already eliminates your period.

They give you a fake period for reassurance... many women actually feel more comfortable when they have some sort of flow. That's why when you're on birth control your periods are somewhat lighter than they normally would be.. because it's fake.

I'm not on any hormonal birth control, though.. so I can't tell you anything by experience.

I get anemic easily so I am on the three month birth control. It is nice not having a period because I don't have to spend the money on tampons and have to wash bloody panties. But to each their own!

    Peace and love

Instead of stopping your period to treat anemia, why not eat more Iron-rich foods? Anemia's not caused by menstruation. Menstruation only highlights an already existing, possibly serious problem!

have fun trying to get pregnant in the future. I was on birthcontrol pills over 1.5 years ago and I STILL have a messed up period. I don't know if I have fertility issues because I'm NOT trying to get pregnant. I know women who have fertility issues way after getting off the pill. A period is natural. If you put anything synthedic into your body you are putting yourself at risk for cancers or other serious conditions.

Did you have messed up periods before you where on BC? I know lots of people who have gotten pregnant after being on BC. Actually there is some proof the BC helps with conception.

Where did you hear that BC causes cancer or other serious conditions?

OC can cause breast and cervical cancers. This is due to the synthedic hormone (estrogen). My aunt developed breast cancer and died from it due to synthedic estrongen. OC do lower the risk of ovarian cancer, but I wouldn't want to risk developing the other cancers. I had cervical cancer before, but it went away. I would NEVER put birthcontrol in my body ever again! I'd rather take the risk of becoming pregnant, but the use of condoms obviously decreases this risk. Oh and I had normal periods before getting onto the pill.

    I got my info here:
