Last question for now people, and thanks already for some very interesting reading. I have found a grow kit I am ready to buy it.... now, spore or syringe? I want one Thai strain and one South American strain, probably Ecuadorean or Columbian. which is easier to work with, which has more yield, which is..... Better?? thanks, Jai Dee
Jai, just out of curiosity what strains were you thinking of? I'm thinking of the same strategy for my next batch but am having trouble with final decision. For a Thai strain I'm leaning towards Lip Yai For the mexican strain I am torn between Golden Teacher and Mazapatec (neither of which I've tried before). And for bulk and backup I'm in limbo between B+ and Equador. Anyone one else have advice, preference.
Get a grow bag and a syringe. They work REALLY well Just make sure you know when to open the bag! I had a batch die because it was my first time and didn't know when to let the little babies out
Definitely go with a syringe if it is your first time. I think a grow kit is a waste of money. Buy the components and assemble everything yourself.
From what I've heard the B+ and Lip Ya are the easier of the ones you mentioned to grow. Of course it depends on the growing method and environmental conditions (i.e. temperature, humidity).
Cubes are cubes when you're growing. The strains won't make much of a difference in ease of growing...they're all cubensis mushrooms. Get a syringe for sure. You'd generally end up making a spore syringe out of a spore print anyways. The print just generally has more spores included so it's more expensive.
