Bout £2.50 for a battered sausage and chips, curry sauce from these places is vile, but it's all about scraps....

Have you ever been to Michael's High Class fish bar on Holloway Road? It's probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had....

Can't beat the seaside for fish and chips (fresh fish!!!!) :D Although, the price tends to be a bit of a rip-off!

Was that the Broadway Fish Bar or whatever it's called? They do massive portions. It's one of the few genuine eateries left in Crouch End.

I used to like Johnny's FIsh bar at the Embankment station - long gone of course, I think there's a Costa coffeeshop on the site now.

Most expensive fish and chips I had was at Southwold, but then it was fried in Adnam's beer batter.

Most fish and chip shop serve up sloppy rubbish. The best stuff now, for me, can only be found it Whitby, and is generally around £7 -8 a throw.

Walthamstow used to have a great fish and chip shop but it got taken over by someone more interested in serving dodgy burgers and chicken legs and turkish kebabs

It sounds like one of those establishments where, after a few drinks you save yourself from eating it by spilling the chilli sauce along with the dog meat down the front of yourself, fall over and don't feel any pain or regret until the morning, at which time the pounding starts in the head and you remember that you insulted almost everyone you met and all you want to do is crawl up into a ball and hide; happy days.

As I live in the slumps of Gothic society, our local chipshop is selling fish and chips for near 6 pounds. When questioning the guy, he just shrugged and said, " Oh, cod is becoming rare and expensive." My response was, "Balony". He then went off on one and started going reh reh reh and a reh teh teh.

At this point I left the shop. Went to another chip shop,. Same issue.Or excuse to rip off its customers.

I tell you now - there is nothing more British than fish and chips and I worked out why a while ago - its because we are a small island and we have a large fishing fleet. I eat fish twice a week and in the summer I love nothing better that heading to the south coast - hiring a boat and catching my own macrell (sp !) macrell and chips nothing like it - except battered cod tops it all

Fish don't feel a thing. Infact many vegies eat fish. It is the one main neccesity that vegies eat./ Without fish, they are at health risk, Paul.
