...and now I am paying majorely for it. Wells a few weeks ago I started noticing sticky black marks on my fingers and arms and today I finally figured out what it was...that's right rubberbands, they have now melted into my dreads just like you guys said. Well it's finals week so I am completely busy most of the time so I haven't cut them out yet, but from what I am guessing, they aren't going to cut out. So my question is, does anyone know a good way to remove this crap without removing the dread? Thanks everybody

no, that sucks.. I've never seen them melt in someones hair, but I had some in my drawer and it's still sticky, I don't have a clue how to remove it :S But next time use other rubber bands, here in the netherlands we have very small black ones which never brake and also don't melt. I have seen people with those bands in their hair for six years (and still not broken).

(don't mind my crappy english :p)

or just listen to us when we say "no bands, no wax, no shit" :p

dont worry about it just pick out the gunk when ever you get the chance, are the bands at the root or ends? if its the ends just brush out the ends of the dreads and let them re dread after, or dip the dreads in boiling water, its good to get rid of wax too.

    good luck friend.

Yeah ive never seen it before it happened to me either. But, wow 6 years, I may need some of those. And your'e english is fine, better than a lot of Americans actually :\

Yeah they are in the middle so I don't want to comb it out to there. But, tommorow is my last school day so sometime next week I am going to try the dip and pick thing, and I have learned my lesson. What Knotty Know How say....goes.

You could talk to a chemistry teacher. I was one for 10yrs and was always asked to deal with weird stuff like that (but not exactly that, because if I was I'd tell you).

    tooolllld ya soooooo!

    aw, just kidding. Kind of.

I still have one dread that has wax in it...from the roots up about 2 inches. It's gross...I can squish it like playdough. Nothing will get rid of it!

Just try and get it out as well as you can. It'll come out eventually, I'm sure.

How long did you have the rubber bands in before they went wonky?
