http://www.aclu.org/freespeech/gen/29862prs20070523.html This is disturbing: a report on climate change was watered-down drastically to avoid offending politicians.
This isn't new. Ask any scientist. Their finds have been watered down for politicians for years. A lot of what you get in the media is either a scientist who's been bribed to vouch for a certain viewpoint, or a minority believer ignored by the rest of the scientific community and whose views don't reflect current scientific findings. It's especially bad when it comes to controversial things like global warming. It gets me angry when this sort of thing happens.... science is about facts, not politics. Global warming should be about facts, but all too often it's not.
The Smithsonian Institute.. which is run by the government.. which is constantly at odds with the media... At the end of the day, it's all the same thing. The government only believes what it wants to believe. So does the media. It's been that way for years. This Smithsonian thing is merely an extension of this. A very big, and, yeah, disturbing extension. The odds that they'll go to to justify their actions is the most disturbing part, though.
