I have a bunch of freshly harvested LR2 seeds but am having trouble germinating them. I read a while back that you had to let them dry out a bit? Also I know that some people have dealt with hard shells with the LR genes but the plants these came from all germinated with no problems. Any suggestions on how to improve my germ rates with fresh seeds?
Hi, seeds need a lot of water to start germinating, what i do is the paper towel technique. Get approx. 5 of the seeds and wet 2 folded pieces of paper towel, put the seeds in between them and put the whole thing in a zip lock bag (so it doesn't dry), as soon as the root (the white hair) starts to grow, put them directly into soil with the root facing downwards. Works fine for me, however, some people say that using this technique is risky since you have to handle the seeds with care. I'm a beginner in growing, but hopefully this will help.
Heating pads speed up the germination rate by far. Just keep it on low, too high and your seeds are screwed.
