Ello:) Ive been advised to make a karma, and i realised last night that although ive been hanging around this place for a good few years, i dont really know people, and people dont know me. Which is odd, as im an open spirit...so id like to share, if people are interested of course

My names Maxi:) Yes, as in large. Although my body is rather small. I was born one February in a windy Welsh town

I guess id say im a spiritual person. I see the world and many things in it as a complete and utter miracle. Like leaves, or mice, or the human body. Im a believer in the power of Love, positivity, all that stuff, which is often mistaken for naivity or stupidity...but actually im quite thoughtful and realise the Earthy facts of life, and i guess ive been through quite a bit already. I dont carry prejudice around with me, as i believe we are all related, and i consider people and other animals as friends, even if sometimes they go wrong

I suppose i have some rather different views about stuff, so ask way about whatever you want and ill always try to answer as best i can

Uh...im a herbivore. Im interested in travel, languages, biology, nature, the heavens...so many things. I also read far too much, and my eyes get sore.

Im currently living in a nice little flat in Cheltenham with my boyfriend and our babies, who are bunny rabbits. I work with 2 and 3 year olds, which is such an amazing job. Im hoping to get a degree in English one day, but for now working with the little ones suits me just fine.

Uh...my words have dried up now. I hope ive done this right. Id be happy to answer questions, and thanx:)

Hello Maxi:D I'm glad you decided to set up a karma thread.

What's the significance of your user name?

I assume you're vegan? And from your posts I've gathered this is an important aspect of your character. When did you become veggie/vegan and where would you say your ethics came from?

Heya Peace:) I have loads of plans...My more immediate plan is to continue living in Cheltenham for a while and working with the toddlers, soaking up this happiness thats around, and then to go on to a uni to get a degree. After that perhaps a career in teaching languages would be cool...Oh and me and my boyfriend are also planning to have an alternative wedding sometime in the near future:)

But my greatest goals involve a lot more, and im not really sure how feasible they are, but ill give it my best shot. I want to make a real difference to the lives of others, do a lot more travelling, and maybe set up my own orphanage in a place most in need one day. What my heart is telling me is that i want to help and communicate with a larger mass of people, like those most in need, but obviously im just one person, and itll all depend on how things go. Silly things like money etc

Well my username was set up a few years back...Its an odd one that just came to mind.
I dont know if you already know, but "verseau" is the French for the astrological sign of aquarius (water pourer) Ive studied a bit of astrology, just because i like studying things really (but none of this blatantly garbage horoscope predict the future stuff they print in magazines with pretty pictures. Proper, scientific astrology, the works of it) Anyway at my time of birth the sun, the moon and mercury were all in the sector of the sky known as the sign of aquarius, in the 11th house...all of which basically means im very aquarian astrologically:)
And miracle, to be honest, i think was just a word that came into my head the second after i decided to be verseau!

Yes, im vegan. Strangely i cant remember a time when i actually enjoyed eating meat. It felt heavy in my tummy, and I remember being very young and wondering about where it came from as i stirred it around the plate. We had many companion animals. I was also born basically lactose intolerant...which again was something which made me wonder about animal products, question why adult people were drinking a cows breastmilk and why my body would not accept it...
I was a quiet child though, and didnt outwardly protest until age 12, when i declared i was going ovo-(but obviously not lacto) veg. My family bullied me about it, but i was beginning to research more, about the biology of meat eating and i also saw many videos of the horrific conditions creatures were kept in and their torture. Veg felt good. But with only eggs and honey to have to give up, i became vegan about 2 years back with no problem

(as you can imagine, eating in France was a nightmare)

Ok, I've got a question about your vegan ways-not so much yours actually, more about your feelings towards others that aren't vegans-does it bother you? If so how do you deal with it?

What are your feelings regarding religion?

Just curious-I didn't even know there were 'karma' threads, so this is new to me.

Heya:) Well, it bothers me when people are ignorant and just remain ignorant...when they dont want to listen to any other views, they think its digusting or sick to think of their piece of meat as a dead carcass (which is just what it is) so they just never think about it and pretend its not happening, and they use tired arguments that mean nothing, theyre just repeating what others say, things like that

It is however completely different for someone who HAS considered it, knows the facts, has asked themselves and have decided to be omnivorous. That, despite the decline of the planet, global waring etc, i can accept and of course i respect. It would be foolish not to, i think, although i am very fixed in my own beliefs and yes, its something i feel very strongly about

Religion, wow, huge topic! Well i dont have a "recognised" religion of my own, although id say im religious...im certainly not an atheist, and ive never been fond of "agnostic"...

I personally dont like it when parents raise a child with a religion...i mean when its drilled into them as the absolute truth. It can mess with the mind, and it should be a decision they make when older. I also dont really understand following what a load of other people say or a book says, and you can never follow it exactly, so whats the point in getting all preachy about it? I dont like preachy religions

Again, ill respect someone with a religion as long as they respect my decision not to have one...oh, and i have a bit of a gripe with Christianity. Actually just those types of christians of tell children theyll burn in "hell" and theyre "sinners" and tell that to random strangers and even some believing homosexuality should equal shame. Theyre freakin weird. I dont believe in hell, or sin, or any of those words used to create fear and nothing more

I can see good sides to all religions though, they make good points here and there, but not for me. Good to read about. The bibles full of nice symbology

I guess you could say I've become one of the many, I lke my meat and don't often think about what it is, although I do know and have thought about it some. I used to be really disgusted when I would see a steak cooked rare w/a pool of red juice around it realizing it was blood. Hey, fair is fair, I asked you so I feel I should at least be honest. I like the fact that you seemingly always felt uncomfortable about it as opposed to becoming a vegan due to it being 'in' for example.

On a related note what do you think about the raw foodist movement?

I agree with you about religion in many ways as I don't have a 'recognized' religion myself nor am I athiest.

My biggest issue w/it is w/so many religions-and how did that ever happen-and no one knowing anything for a hundred percent to be right or wrong in any of them how can you choose one? I have too many questions that most likely never will be answered lol.

As for anyone that goes out of there way to push anything on me, well, news to them as that is more likely to drive a wedge in their path right off the bat. If I need it, I'll come looking for it. And anyone that preaches the word of a loving and forgiving God in one breath and then turns around and hurls hateful and spiteful words at anyone makes me question their beliefs.

As it happens, i love raw food and raw foodism!
I currently eat about 70-80 percent raw food, id say, and i see a big difference in how i feel. The main thing being i no longer suffer from depression, which had been a problem on and off for me since being about 15. Then of course were using up far less packaging...and it just feels right, eating all these yummy fruits, nuts and veggies. My body likes it

The problem is it seems a few individuals have harnassed raw foodism and taken it to the extreme or used it just to make profit, writing books about the power of a 60 percent seaweed diet or insisting we need to pay hundreds of pounds for their branded blenders, chocolate bars or exotic fruit. Ive nosed through a few of the books and tried some of the suggestions, and frankly, most of its trash. Theyre just treating it like another trend to make money from. I think theres more in it than that

Could i do 100 percent raw? I dont think so, and dont think id wish to. For a start dietary suppliments are apparently not encouraged within the raw food community, which i think is a little risky now im ill. I think there are some cooked things that benefit me, like rice or lentils, corn flakes, fortified milks, oats...it makes the diet richer and gives me more protein and certain vitamins etc, which is important for any vegan to look out for

    Good question!

Mango, definitely! They have to be just right though, and organic. The supermarket ones can be ever so watery and nasty. But perfect mangoes make me very happy:)
