i'm heading to summer camp this weekend and it's my first time going to a festival. any suggestions on what to bring as far as entertainment/survival? i know the basic stuff to bring but i was wondering what you all have experienced to be helpful while camping out.
Cheap beer.. and lots of it... like PBR or Old Milwaukee or Old Style.. oh yea.. and lighters. a lighter will get you a lot of things if you're in the right place at the right time.. head lamp.. Energizer makes one that clips onto the bill of your hat that works great! and is super bright too.. a roll of TP.. never know when a portajohn will be out of TP... lots of Advil for those nasty hang overs that kick in mid day when the sun is beating down on ya.. if there is one thing people over pack for a festival is clothes.. one extra shirt and bottoms is more than enough.. everyone else is dirty.. no need to try to be clean..only extra clothes i bring is a pair of pants and a long sleeve shirt in case it gets too cold.. otherwise i wear the same set of clothes the whole weekend or week.. depending on the festival
Besides what was mentioned, I would bring plenty of water, food(so you dont have to buy over priced festy food) baby wipes can be helpful, sunscreen, and everything else that was mentioned. I know joker mentioned a head lamp, but I'll just say it again cuz they are really useful. Edit to add: Any musical instruments that you may want to play in a jam session/drumcircle
i like to bring lots of fruit (grapes, appels, oranges, bananas) and other easily eatable things (at some fests however, food can be pricey so if this is the case you might want to bring a small camping grill and use that. But usually, you can get a meal for under 4 bucks at most fests.) AND LOTS OF WATER!!!! Cant stress this enough. A backpack is always nice for carrying beer around and stuff. I would also advise to buy as much beer as you can before the fest as you will spend mucho denero in the stage area buying 4 dollar beers all day. Clothes is entirely up to you IMO, whatever you feel neccessary. Def bring atleast a sweatshirt for night. Bring a foldout chair of somesort because these are nice for when you get tired but still wanna see some music. Not sure if they allow chairs in the stage area at SummerCamp but i bet they do. ***One thing i have always liked to have at the campsite is a water bottle with a spinning fan attached to the end (they spray water and cool you off at the same time....very nice for the hot hot days) Bring your A game as well. Your gonna need all the energy you can get to last until the last day if you watch as much music as i do at fests.
