But she's a friend of mine. Aaah!!! That movie is total rubbish. I can't stand those silly songs: do re mi fa so la ti do... :$ But there's one exception: Edelweiss. The song is great, and that's the only worthy part of the movie when they're all in the stadium. But the rest is crap!
grrrr...it was a great movie! over the summer I was in Salzburg in the grave yard place where they're hiding in the end of the movie...it was really cool. and you don't have to like the songs, but the story was great (I'm Austrian, don't argue!)
Maybe I'm showing my age, but... I've never seen it. Everybody tells me it's really cool so I will check it out real soon.
But, ummm, I don't think Casablanka can really be considered a musical. Seriously though people, check out True Stories. It's great.
If u're going to choose Edelweiss then surely the better segment is when Liesl and El Capitan sing it. The second repeat where she duets with her father and echoes the words and theme is magical. What about the Laendler? I find that waltz absolutely gorgeous too. And it was written by Rodgers and Hammerstein if I recall.. not even Austrian though obviously it sounds Austrian!
Assuming we discount the usual suspects.. i.e. musicals that have been made into films (Camelot/Music Man etc etc) then surely films like Footloose/Flashdance/Dirty Dancing which all had some great songs. But they have a heavily musical/dance theme. Movies that have great soundtracks though.. Top Gun for one. Nurse Betty for another .
Well, all of my favorites have been mentioned. But I'll list them anyway. -Singin' In The Rain (number one to me) -A Hard Days Night -Hair -blues Brothers
Yeah, me too!! Well, I am christian (but not really religious), but that´s not why I like it though. I saw it on stage and there was the hottest Judas dancing and singing around, you can imagine!! ... Till the break, then they changed him ... *cries out loud*. I loved that show nevertheless!! And my sis lost my soundtrack aaahhhh!
No one mentioned Sargeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band with Peter Frampton as Billy Shears and Aerosmith rocking Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I loved that movie. Oh and I like the song "My favorite things" from the Sound of Music. Donny Darko soundtrack. Casablanca rocks although its not a musical really. Broadway musicals: Caberet is my fav. A Chorus Line and Beauty and the Beast Live on Broadway was wonderful and magical. I saw Tommy the day it came out in theaters. We had to camp in the parking lot because people started lining up the day before the movie opened to get tickets. We were there all night and still only got SRO, but it was awesome. It was Brilliant, it was mind blowing and then came The wall...
what is wrong with the sound of music. its a very good fil and i had to sing a solo for it so there!lol
