aint she good? i just love her singin to death...probably my favorite female vocalist. plus, she is beautiful i just find her new album so bland =/...but i got "moon pix", and i have fallen in love with her all over again but "you are free" is the album that really got me into her...still my favorite of hers
I liked The Greatest. Moon Pix was the first cd I got by her...I've never gotten around to getting You Are Free--I really want it, but I don't wanna pay more than eight for the cd.
i was lucky enough to find a copy of moon pix for only 7 bucks, so im sure there is a copy of you are free for cheap somewhere...but i think that one is worth the regular price in my opinion the greatest is fine, but i much prefer chan marshell when its just mainly her and her guitar/piano. not to down with the whole band thing...but thats just me. there are some great tunes on there
Yeah, but I respect that she's changing it up and not making the same album over and over again. I mean, she makes up most of her lyrics on the spot during recording sessions, and I mean--there's only so much you can do with a piano and guitar before it all sounds the same. You have to admit, though, The Greatest is probably one of the best songs she's ever made
she writes great songs and has a lovely voice, but is truly awful in concert generally Once was good, with the Dirty 3 from Australia backing her up, the other times were absolutely terrible, dissappointing, embarassing, including one sold out show of maybe 2000 people in Los Angeles, stopping songs in the middle, apologizing over and over.
she nearly always said "I'm sorry" after every song, every time I saw her, which was 3 times. She is just super fragile, can hardly do it. The one in LA she tried to start a song about 4 times then abandoned it. the first time i saw her, I loved it though, this was in 1999 or so She did sound good when she could make it all the way through, she just comes across as so sensitive, and i think lots of that is an act, from people I know who have met her in NY, they say she is super girly giggling and flirty and everything
very true. i do love that song, plus "hate" and "love & communication" are incredible...but i dont know. i guess i just dont dig the style of music that the backup band brings most of the time. thats just my opinion...i havent listened to her new album in a good long time, so maybe i'll think of it different next time i listen to it
damn seamonster...that sucks to hear she sucks so much in concert at least she makes good studio albums
yes i love her studio albums too, the ones I've heard I hear she was more solid with this brass band behind her, but maybe some of the charm would be gone?
indeed. but i think it woudl be better that she have less charm and do better, then not have the band and have her mess up nearly every song
She's not too bad, kind of raspy like Janis Joplin, but still kind of breathless like Sarah McLaughlin. I like it.
