    hello
I've been growing my hair out since last summer (with the intent to knot my antenni into locks)
and I was just curious if you experts could help a newb out.
Is my hair long enough to start dreading?

plenty long enough id say. thats about how long mine was when i started. if you backcomb, theyll fall right out, so you might want to just let nature take its course.

this is gonna be one friggin sexy dreadhead! damn...

why will they fall out if I backcomb?
My buddy just told me last night that he backcombed his when his hair was as long as mine...
    His dreads are fluffy...

if you backcombed now, the dreads would probably be real short so they would be more prone to falling out. if you just go natural, they will knot up by themsleves as your hair grows and you'll have awesome dreads!

I've read that rubber bands are evil...

How else am I going to section off my hair? (If I don't put them on the tips?)

    well ok advice for you...

If you want to star aiding the hair to dread just start idily playing with the hair in little sections... nothing over the top but just get into the habbit of grabbing sections of your hair and twisting or rubbing or just twiddling... the hair will then section itself naturaly ~:) really avoid rubber bands, its ben over three years sincei thought i took the few bands out i put in and occasionally i still find random rubber bits... AVOID WAX as much as possible too.

Just let it happen and it will feel like nothing is changing for a while but trust me it will happen :)

    hmmmm...

I play with my hair all day... cant help it
i just love to twist it and rub it and yeah....

whenever I go to the beach I come home with little dreads. I love it!

So you don't reccommend even using rubber bands on the tips to help the dreads start forming?

And as for wax...I used to spike my hair with it...
I'm never touching that shit again!
