I know Converse puts out a variety of colorful shoes... but I don't care for Converse b/c they don't have very good support. Does anyone know of any other brands of shoes that have lots of colors? I remember seeing an article about colorful shoes in one of these teen mags a few months ago... but at the time, I didn't have anything to write down the brand names. So I hope some of you could reccomend some other brands.

Fabric paint comes in lots of colours...;) Get shoes that fit comfortably and have fun with them. :D

those peter max shoes are so cool.
i know ive seen some at thrift stores but i think your best bet is to just go with the fabric paint.

but i wouldn't do the fabric paint in the squeezy bottles, ive tried those and they peel right off. i think dye would be better, though it would be hard to paint actual pictures with dye because it runs, unless you use wax.

Spoken like a true '60s hippie....that was the ONLY way to get them back then. Of course, there really wasn't such a thing as "fabric" paint so we used watered down house paints...

I saw these wicked shoes, they were those ones that are made to look like old rebok or nike shoes from the 80's. but they had fur on them! If I wore shoes I would have bought them hahah jks

don't bother with batik (wax resist) www.dharmatrading.com carries sodium alginate thickener that will make dyes easier to handle in a "painting" format.
Dye will penetrate into fibers and leave them breathing. Paint will seal up the weave and you will not get air flow.

Personally, I'd find cloth Keds knock offs and have some fun with a couple pairs.
I'd use dye as a base and use paint (and artists' acrylic does not seem to come off, I have discovered) for detailing.

ooohhh, edited to add this link:

Ive had some success with cloth keds and acrylic paint, believe it or not. I was just messing around since I found the shoes for super cheap at the time, but theyve held up nicely. Good luck in your colorful shoe hunt!
