I must say that I am MOST excited about Wakarusa. This will be my first year; I have no doubt that it will be amazing.

anyone here Wakarusa volunteers?

 

one of my good friends is volunteering this year, but im not lol

he only has to work 8 hours for the entire weekend i think. and he told me that they will schedule him around the bands he wants to see.

not too bad if you ask me, cuz you get in for free!

 

id also like to say that July 27th-30th in Melvern, KS is another festival called
"Dogstock". 4 stages, over 100 bands, 4 days (private land). And Tix are only 60 bucks a piece. I got two for 60 when they were runnin the Febuary special, so for 30 bucks id say this is the deal of the century. but this is gonna be a gem of a fest, lots of good bands.

Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band
Chicago Afrobeat Project
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey
some electronic/trance/jam bands (Prism, The Balance)
very good jazz in the Andreas Kapsalis Trio
also some good bluegrass and classic rock bands!

Waka's line up is awesome this year....got some friends on the bill Revolutionary Side Effects....check em out they are awesomely progressive and funky...

 

i was checkin these dudes out, liked what i heard and put them on my list of suprises to see at waka. Hopefully they wont conflict with any of the bands on my must see list and i will def show them some love. I love progressive stuff and if its funky then its that much better!

 

A couple of my friends are cleaning and my student teacher is Head of Security. :]

 

I heard waka was sketchest fest of the year last year. Hopefully it will be ran better this year like the site sais...

 

i haven't been on the this forum for a really long time, but i'd like to say i wouldn't miss waka for anything. i had a great time last year. I had no trouble with cops at all and for those of you who did take a look at the web site again and you will see that the security situation has been taken care of. I have a bunch of friends who will be working this year a really close friend of mine works for the company, but we decided that we wanted to enjoy the whole festie with out having to worry about working at all. oh, yeah I live 20 min. away and read the paper to and they haven't said there will be more security at all. love and hope to see everyone there.
