I've been scrapbooking my highschool pics, and am absolutely mortified by the size/height of my hair. I knew it was big, but I guess I forgot just HOW big, lol http://photos1.blogger.com/photoInclude/blogger/331/1243/1600/PICT0099.0.jpg This was me at 17, rocking about a 1/2 can of Aqua Net Extra Super Hold. Yes, it was stiff as it looked. Funny thing is there were alot of girls at my school who had hair much higher than me. We actually used to have contests to see who could tease their hair the highest! lol. Will anyone else admit to having "mall hair"? What was your spray of choice? and How high did you get your bangs?? Jen
What was it that they used to say? The higher the hair, the closer to god? I used to do it to my bangs LOL
shiiiit that hair definitely has got some back. and yes, my mom did give me those HIGH ASS BANGS when i was younger. it was in the late 80s early 90s. WHY MOM WHY?!?!
i had big hair! but in the 80's, just on one side. like i would comb it and gel it all slick and smooth, combing it all over to one side, hold it in place with a giant hairpin which wouldn't show under the curls, and then mouse, spray and tease the other side till it was curly and huge. so one side of my head would be smooth with all the hair combed over to the other side, where it sort of exploded in a riot of dyed auburn curls, and of course i had bangs hanging down over one eye. i used to wear mismatched earrings, a long dangly one dripping from the earlobe on the smooth side, and 2 little studs, one with a chain going to my nose, on the other. oh, and on the smooth side i sometimes wore an earcuff that looked like a little man clinging to my ear. i used to wear those baggy, black dropped-crotch pants, back when only the art nerds wore them, before mc hammer ruined them by making them popular, and shoes with black/white yin-yang masks on them, or else little black boots. man i loved my little black boots. of course i had a big shirt in a print that looked like it had paint smudged on it, and most of the time it had real paint on it, too. i listened to college radio back when it was good, and bands like the cure, the b-52's, the sugar cubes, the thompson twins and the hoodoo gurus. those were my early pretentious vegetarian days, too. wow, thanks for the flashback. now how do i forget/deny it all? my dreads were big when they were new, but they're getting long and heavy now, and the weight pulls them down a bit.
Wow! Your hair is definetly bigger in that pic than mine was, but yeah I had big hair in the 80's. Anyone remember the hairspray called stiff stuff?
i used aqua net, on my hair as well as on my art homework. (low-budget fixative, please don't ever use it on "real" art!)
And I thought my hair was big back in the day! Yes, I had my hair pretty big, especially in the front. I must have gone through a can of Aqua Net every other day.
When I was a kid, I always wanted those HUGE curly bangs, but my mom wouldn't spring for the hairspray, told me I'd ruin my hair. So instead, I had a mushroom cut (that's the best way I can describe that disaster, lol) and humongous glasses because I had a tiny head and the only frames that fit my face had lenses that swallowed me.
Not at 17. Here's a pic...I wanted the straightest hair possible and still do . When I was really little I always wanted big hair and got to go overboard on the hairspray and crimping iron if I got a good report card.
I wanna see a pic...it's only fair! If you don't wanna post it bring it down next weekend...plllleaaassssssseeeeeeeee
