On Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is really good, too. I love me some Ken Kesey. If you are interested in hippy counter-culture... the politics, the movement, the drugs, the entertainment, the music, the 60s, the 70s, the art... I'm reading a book called "HIPPIE". My dad got it for me for my 18th birthday. I love it. Makes me want to transfer back to the 60s everyday. It's real, real interesting. I can't help it. I'm obsessed with the 60s.
i HATE fiction. but for non fiction i recommend "The botany of desire". its one of the best books ive ever read.
The full title is "The Botany of Desire: A Plant's-Eye View of the World" The author poses the question "Do plants use humans as much as we use them?" He chose 4 specific plants to investigate. apples, tulips, marijuana, and potatoes. The result is a fascinating and engaging look at the true nature of domestication. This book changed the way i look at plant life and my relationship to it. it also changed how i view my place in the world. EDIT: it also tells the TRUE story of johnny appleseed which i thought was pretty neet.
That sounds fascintating. I think I'll hit that one up at the library. Potatoes? When I was tripping once, I had a conceptual passion for potatoes. Not to eat, mind you, but rather, I felt they had had something to offer me. I kept thinking and thinking and "listening to the potatoes" and it occured to me, at the time, that potatoes were going to take over the world. It was crazy. I woke up the next morning and there was a potato lying on floor with "Potato" carved into it. It was an eye-opener, no mistake. But I still haven't quite figured out what that whole scenario was about. And it baffles me to this day. I haven't been able to eat potatoes since. French fries, mashed potatoes, bake potatoes, etc. I just can't. It feels wrong all of the sudden. I'm bewildered by it. What do y'all think?

But you don't understand man, I can't. And I can't understand this shite, either, man, I just know that just absolutely 100% surely cannot eat another potato, ever. It was an acid intervention. Man, I do not know... I know this sounds a lot like lunacy.
No man, stay away from potatos. If you don't, when you are 28 they will sneak up from behind and pull your hair! No one wants that, please please stay away
i like how he threw in cannabis out of nowhere lol sounds interesting though i have to look into that one
Yes and I'm steering well clear of Idaho, too. Idaho queen will send thousands of potatoes my way. Oh man, I just ate potato bread. That doesn't count, does it? Oh man, I AM screwed.
