Well what makes you think it's so complex? It could be a very simple concept. The only thing stopping it from being so simple is the fact that we can't kill someone, bring them back, and ask them what happened.

We are all animals, spiritual BS is BS and nothing more. We live, die, and decompose. Nothing more nothing less. The only thing I fear is not dying if something happens. Like being severely crippled or something. If I die I could care, because I'd be dead and nothing would matter.

That's what I think. Rationally though, none of us know for sure, and we won't.....until we die:)

Joker, while your post speaks much truth and wisdom that I probably have not attained at this stage in my life, I still have to tell you where Im at personally.
The path that I follow is actually the path laid out by Krishna, I call him Krsna, same differance. Krsna was a teacher who appeared about 3000 years before Buddha and Christ, so, 5000 give or take years ago. According to Vedic (Sanskrit, Hindu, Indian Philosophy...) literature, Krsna is an incarnation of Vishnu (God) actually, the 8th incarnation, Rama was before Krsna (hence the Maha Mantra Hare Krsna Hare Rama) and Buddha was the 9th incarnation. So, obviously, Buddha came for the same reason, to be enlightened and to teach, and he taught basically the same message as Krsna, only to a different generation of people in the same general area. So, in a way, you are right, I do completely hold Buddhas 8 fold path and the rules and so on to be completely true, and I feel that He was an incarnation of my own chosen divine deity to worship, but Krishna's teachings are laid out for us in the poem called the Bhagavad Gita, which is actually but a mere section of the epic Mahabaratta.
Sorry if I am going overboard here, in a sense, you are not wrong, in fact your right because I do believe wholly in Gutama Buddha, but I chose to learn from the Bhagavad Gita and I chose the path of Krishna Conciousness, devotion to Lord Krnsa, or, Bhakti Yoga (my screen name) as my physical manifestation of Gods energy to focus on and dedicate myself to attaining liberation from the cycle of Samsara (same message as Buddha lol) :)

Ok, wow I might have blown my whole point, if so, heres a longer yet simpler and more coherent version of what Im saying :

When it comes to my personal beliefs in such matters as this I find it very very difficult to explain why I do not believe in certain things. Mushroom and LSD use has helped me form my beliefs, but I am still far from coming to any sort of conclusion. However, there are certain things that I definetly do not believe, for example heaven, hell or now that you mention it the idea that what a person believes will happen to them is what does happen. While I obviously can't prove what you say wrong, I can say that, to me, it really just does not seem to make any sort of sense. Most peoples beliefs are based off of some sort of fact or experience, but I have nothing to base a belief such as yours (if it is what you believe, I'm not really sure) off of. Sorry I can't really explain how I feel better, but to do so I think I would have to explain dissolving into oneness with everything. If anyone here agrees with me and can explain it better please do so:)

if there is anything i somewhat belive in, it's what i've read in books by Eckhart Tolle, mostly on spiritual enlightenment

he simply speaks of "being", your phsyical self, and your selfish mind which control your life are not your true being, you simply are acting "unconsiously" when u live your daily life, not aware of true being

the easiest way to explain it for me, is say u are sitting at home reading what i've typed here, take a step back and examine your thought process on, what i can only describe as a "3rd person" view, above all physical body and mind, free of emotion, judgement, feeling, getting to a place where there is no external "noise" but simply a state of peace, much of which is taught through the basis of Bhudda's teachings

at a state where only "being" exists, not nesacarilly an entity, nor spirit

when u are not a "being" but are "be-ing"

he talks about the average person only experiancing this during near death experiances, or under much practice of the teachings, early in my life I actually met a person who strongly followed these principals, and from what he told me, experianced while i knew him, i could only belive he did truely live what i have read.

haha.. sorry.. it was not done on purpose.. i don't really know if i actually took thought as to if krsna was he or she... sorry if i offended you krsna.. i believe i didnt though since you took no mention to the fact..

Krsna... understandable.. and I'm suprised i didnt take notice to the fact that your name was Krsna Bhakti LOL.. just stupidity on my half.. but i totally understand.. i have looked into Hinduism and personally I've prefered Buddhism for the fact that the only person I feel I have to please in this world is myself.. I'm not looking to have to please any god of sorts.. and thats why i prefer just the teachings of Gutama Buddha.. thats the slight difference between Buddhism and Hindu.. both have a lot of the of the same people and teachings.. just Hindu throws gods in the mix(correct me if i'm wrong but thats mostly what i've noticed, other than the fact that hindu is a couple 1000 years older, but also take into consideration that like Buddhism, Hindu teachings were passed down by word of mouth.. little was written.. and when it was written it was done 1000s of years later.. so dates can be askewed) But thats same with Catholic, Methodist, and such.. same people... different stories/worship

No, your right, but Krsna says that worship of the demigods is only for those who cant understand the true esoteric conciousness in Him, in other words, we all eventually learn to become concious in Him, and our karma in this life carries over to the next, dictating how close we get in spirituality. Also, the karma from thousands of years ago carries over, on humanity collectivley :)

And its ok, I know you assumed I was a girl, no need to correct you as it makes no differance :)

Also, I want to note, that the only English word we have is "worship", but Krsna says that worship in the sense of acknowledging the greatness of another and praising it, is not the same as realizing that god is in you and that we are all connected :)

Ok, I want to thank everybody who has commented so far and shared their thoughts, seriously this amazes me how many different opinion float around and how they are all connected in some ways while remaining largely individualistic :)
I want to comment on every one of your posts, and I will when I have the time, possibly later tonight. Again, thank you to all of my friends here!

A true yogi observes Me in all beings, and also sees every being in Me. Indeed, the self-realized man sees Me everywhere.

    1. Do you believe in a spiritual afterlife? As in heaven, or something of the sort?
I believe in reincarnation. Heaven sounds nice, but I don't think it is quite fathomable.

    2. Have you ever watched somebody die, either naturally, accidentally, or purposely (ie. murder, suicide) ?
I watched my dog die. From the time she got hit by the car, till the time her face was still twitching after she had stopped breathing.

2.a If you have seen a person pass on, did you notice the look in their eyes when the light faded and the energy left?
Yes, my dogs. And IMO that is enough for me. Her look has made me look differently at death.

    3. And last but not least :

3.a Are you mentally prepared to accept how you've lived your life so far and die at any moments notice without having regret?
I still have a good bit to do in life. As I'm only 15 (16 in a month), I think I still have some shit to do ;)

3.b and, most importantly in my opinion, are you afraid of dying?
I'm not afraid of dying, but I do think I am afraid of leaving all the people I love.
