Maybe she feels sad about it though? Just because sadness isn't death .... death is just that-death and entails many things which you stated, to her it could still be truly sad though and I don't see what is unpagan about that.

because death is simply the end of one thing and a start of something else, of course most of us feel sad when someone we love dies, however this was her statement

well it could be a blessed relief if the person had been in great pain or a great joy if the person believes they are going home to the goddess.
to group all human deaths as 'sad' is quite a tradional view in my opinon

You know, your first paragraph I agree with you fully. The second though I'm not sure of..... I think it's okay for humans to feel whatever they feel be it death or anything else- Most people feel at least some sadness when a person they love dies. It might or might not have been a "good thing" because the person is no longer suffering.... the person feeling the death might likely grow from their pain and experience all the joys of having known their loved one... but for most people there is sadness- it's just one of those things.

Imo, death IS sad... death is also a part of life and a part of beauty but that does not take away from the sadness.

Shouldn't you guys be having this part of the discussion in the religion forum?

I really have no emotions about his death. He was a man who I didn't know. He died. Go team! Or something stupid like that.

If you didn't really respect someone in life, then what makes them so worthy of respect once they're dead? Death doesn't automatically pardon anyone of anything. I can't respect someone who blamed 9/11 on those who disagreed with his beliefs in life, nor will I in death. That's all I have to say.

Maybe he created just enough bad karma that it turned all "good karma" into "like far out man karma". It's a step above, you know.

Haha.. think I didn't know that? That's why it's so funny because many christians ignore "sins" such as that.....

When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.”
    Proverbs (c 23, v. 1-2)

It's so depressing. |'ve only heard one sermon where the preacher mentioned "overeating" as an actual sin. | almost laughed when | heard it, because it made so many of the listeners uncomfortable..

He’d probably lose half the congregation if he spoke-up against the evils of egg salad sandwiches, fried chicken, and potato salad, being served at the church picnic [IMG]
