I'm 19 years old. When Phish was out I wasn't even concerned with much music or jam bands. The past couple years I've slowly been listening to Phish but it's been these past couple weeks that I've been listening to a lot of Phish. I was reading their entry on Wikipedia and got to the part of they're final break-up and Phina Pharewell bow. I've almost started crying. Such a wonderful band, that's made the most talented music I've ever heard. And I might never get a good enough chance to experience what it's like to be in a Phish era. If and when they get back together I will do anything and everything to get to as many of their shows as I can. I love them so much and won't find many bands like them.

I'll always have other bands that I love immensly. Some are still around today. Others aren't. Phish will be one of the greatest. I'm happy I've had a chance to hear they're music.

This was probably a waste of time for some people. I just needed some place to vent out how sad I am right now, and how much I love these four wonderful musicians. Not to many phriends around here.

    (((HUGS)))

I feel ya! I've only been to 6 or 7 Phish shows total, but I was lucky enough to be at NYE 2000 in the Everglades (that was WAY fun BTW :) )

I miss them terribly! While I like Trey and them all separately, there is nothing like the sound of them all together.

    Someday......

don't worry dude they are coming back. it is only a matter of time. they have all said that it is possible. 3/4 Phish jams have happened a few time now in this "extended break".....because thats all it is. them taking off time from Phish and getting into there own stuff. but as we've all seen and they know to, is that it won't be the same with out Phish. Trey knows it, mike knows it, page knows, fish knows it. they want something else, but inevitably you will return to the massive movement and power that is Phish music.

I know, I only caught a sliver of phish. They are what turned me on to Jam bands and honestly, they made me who I am today. I only saw them twice and at Coventry but I feel the same. Too bad. When phish broke up I said, "at least I still have String Cheese!" but that too is comming to an end. I don't want to be a moe.ron but, it looks like that is what the world is comming to. (Well, honestly I love moe. almost just as much as phish and the cheese)

Phish will be back... You can bet on that since Trey's solo career bombed.

    Hang in there...

WHOA. I was spun the other day listening to phish and i threw in a ratdog show and it was like WOW phish sucks. I dont really think phish sucks but your statement is FAR FAR off. Widespread is unbeliveable anybody who sais there no good either hasent heard llive in the classic city or just strait up knows nothing about music. Widspread and Ratdog can both go much further than Phish.
SOmebody give me some support here.

I agree WSP is nasty, but Ratdog is marginally good. And Phish can play music that is light years ahead of both bands.

Im shocked. Phish is sweet bnut i cant stand alot of there shit. I have never been the biggest fan of them and i never will be. Trey and Page suck horribly by themselves, I cant belive Mule is Opening for Trey at 10,000 it should def be the other way around. Also I really dont understand how anybody could not like Widespread.

Ratdog is great - but when i comes down to it Its just Bob weir and some talented guys playing grateful dead music. Grateful dead is a whole different story - but ratdog - not close to phish. WSP too is an amazing band that I really enjoy. But they are still no phish imo. especailly without mikey - jimmy is a sick guitarist but mikey is part of what made panic unique, and no matter how many great songs JB will write (which he will and did do on earth to america) it wont be unique like old panic. But Phish beats them all!

I am not the biggest Phish fan, although I do have a song title tattooed to me lol, I agree they suck seperated. Together is where the magic happens. Together they just are on a level that most musicians will never reach.

I experienced the full shittiness of the 1/2 phish band (grab) a few times this past summer. How fucking horrible was that, I left a show in Jersey early they sucked so bad. A kid I was with, a music fan but not really a deadhead or anything loved phil and just thought GRAB sucked so bad. I waited out 10,000 Lakes and when medeski comes out I am like yes. They are finally going to get groovy. They fucking play Who are you? one of my most hated classic rock songs. I like the intro and that weird part in the middle, but the meat of the song sucks shit.

I like panic too, I think they're great, though I am not the most seasoned WSP listener.

I can't beleive I'm seeing people post the Phish is better than Widespread Panic!

Phish had their best years in 94 and 95 and then Trey began his egotistical plunge into selfishness. Phish was good but not that great. If you ask me Trey's guitar playing never quite went to that next level.

True "phans" of Phish would also be upset with Trey for selfishly killing the band. Trey thought he was going to skyrocket as a solo artist and you see what that got him.

that makes me laugh so hard. i mean. whew..."further than Phish"....that is just rediculous....and then saying by not liking the stale jams of WSP, you say i must know nothing of music....you are very mistaken my friend. WSP is weak. and since mike has died, so did the band. Phish on their worst night blows away almost any band. Ratdog is a cover band. i love going, its fun. but it ain't no Phish....not even close. so very far, so very, very far.

First, the reason more people are saying Phish is better than WSP, is because its true.

and second, saying 94 and 95 were Phish's best years is just some cliche, generic Phish statement. something you can repeat easily to sound like you know something about Phish.....

ROFL this shit is hilarious, like I said I am not a Phish head, they are not even in my top 5 favorite bands, but they are all basically virtuosos at their instruments. Even when they were still a small club/bar band they were at the level WSP is at NOW. I have some 89 shows that rip harder than big WSP shows I have seen or listened to.

I'm sorry but Phish hit their peak around that time. For me thats the time when Phish shows had the most energy.

I saw Phish in 95 at the Fox in Atlanta. The energy was incredible.

After Jerry Garcia died and the head crowd all shifted to Phish, Trey just started getting weird.
