I am going to break the rule and choose dead people, because quite frankly it's a fantasy, so there are no rules. Vocals - Robert Plant Lead Guitar - Jimi Hendrix Rhythm Guitar - John Lennon Bass - Jack Bruce Drums - Keith Moon It's tough to get much better than the real life super group The Dirty Mac, which played the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus... it consisted of John Lennon on lead vocals and rhythm, Eric Clapton on lead guitar, Keith Richard on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums! Pretty heavy, huh?
Yep, The Dirty Mac is indeed my very fav supergroup, the ultimate. john, eric, mitch, and keith on bass! indeed pretty heavy. didn't you just love that jam with the guy on violin, and Yoko just screaming away at it golden
Mitch Mitchell, im my opinion, is one of the most underrrated drummers EVER.... I love your lineup, but you did break the rules!!!! If i went with dead performers...shit.....not the supergroup, but the UBERSUPERGROUP
Yeah Yoko is a real hoot! Lennon and Ono were artists in the truest sense of the word, and the screaming jam was a perfect example of that I guess I will play by the rules and make a still-living super group... vocals - Robert Plant vocals/bass - Paul McCartney (gotta have one Beatle in there!) guitar - Trey Anastasio guitar - Eric Clapton drums - Neil Peart
Please don't hate me for saying this; I saw Robert Plant and his new band at Rock Werchter last year, and eventhough it was great to see one of my heroes live, he didn't quite cut it then and there. (could have been the heatwave that was going on, plus his ages, they played 2 or 3 Zep songs, wich was nice, but it lacked the power you know 'm by. and Paul...he's a just a great businessman (i'm gonna get killed for saying this...):cuss::behead::furious3: Peace
yes IM lonely...... wanna die. if I aint dead already, ooo you know the reason why. my mother was of the sky my father was of the earth and Im of the universe and you know what its worth
Oh Robert Plant hasn't been the same since the late 70s, but I was assuming our supergroup would include musicians in their primes. As for the Paul comment... do you mean now? He's certainly in the top 5 best songwriters of the 20th century (Dylan and Lennon have to be up there... I can't think of anyone else in his league)... so, yeah. Black cloud crossed my mind.... blue mist round my soul... feel so suicidal EVEN HATE MY ROCK N ROLL!!!!! Wanna die! Yeah heeeay wanna die! If I ain't dead already... WOO!... girl you know the reason why! (insert incredible monochromatic guitar solo here)
Seamlessly overflowing into Eric's Signature solo improvisations...totally awesome! there's actually a 2nd take on the dvd of that song but it's not as good as the first one, the one in the film, and i so Get that, this is the producers wanting another take just to be safe, and these guys are all like, "F*ck that, we already gave it all in the first take..." let's just jam a bit more
John Bonham (drums) John Entwhistle(bass) Jimi Hendrix ( guitar) Jeff Buckley (vocals/ 2nd guitarist)
Good one! Did you know John Entwhistle & Keith Moon were actually in Led Zeppelin for about a day? In fact Keith Moon thought up the name mockingly, saying the band they were planning on forming "would go down like a zeppelin" I'm not sure but i think Jeff Beck was in there too somewhere... This was pretty much a wet dream coming true; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMjQszzKz1s  Hope you enjoy as much as i did Peace, & Rock on everyone...
this is hard steve winwood-keys john coltrane-hot sax miles davis-trumpet jimi hendrix-guitar les claypool-bass neil pert(rush)-drums james brown-soul but that might be too much talent, who would lead? who would write? who would lay back? or would it gel to an amazing sound?
For drummers you folks should consider Billy Cobham and Tony Williams. They have chops! with all that said... drums: Tony Williams guitar: John McClauglin guitar 2: Jimi Hendrix guitar 3: Al di Meola bass: Victor Wooten sax: Fela Kuti Piano: Cecil Taylor keyboard: Chick Corea Synthesizer: Herbie Hancock percussionist (bongos, conga, tamberoine, ect): Airto Moreira (occasional) vocals: Tim Buckley (occasional) backing space chants: Gilli Smith (girl from gong) strings: okay, so for shits and giggles, throw in a few members from godspeed you black emperor to play as backing on a few songs for now... just one huge jam
Mine: Vocals: Chris Cornell, though he's got a less powerful voice. Guitar: Kurt Cobain. Guitar: RHCP's John Frusciante. Bass: R.E.M.'s Mike Mills. He can do great background vocals, too. Drums: Soundgarden's & Pearl Jam's Matt Cameron.
