I'm not sure how many people on welfare actually should be, but I don't care. How can the government have the right to take away my hard earned money, and give it to someone else just because they don't have as good of a job as I do? That's just fucked up...I should quit my job, pop out a few kids and live off the other hardworking americans...then I'd have more time for me. No self-respect, but who needs that when you have a welfare check!

I'm tired people, so I'll pull a repeat:

To these people who feel that the government is giving away their money, do you think that if the welfare system disappeared that you would get "your" money back? Have you met our government? They don't give money back...they put it in there own pockets. And if you still can't sleep at night because the government is giving away "your" money, think of it this way. Every mother that receives welfare knows at least 10 taxpayers ( friends and family) that are completely willing to help her and her children out.
So to help you sleep at night....think of it as their money

Everything is about money to the government.....yes, even welfare. And then they throw it out to "taxpayers" so the "taxpayers" will get all up in arms about this. While you are yelling about this gibberish, the government is behind you removing your wallet and inserting a spikey dildo......

    Wake up, people

Don't let them tell you what to think ALL your life

Wow, that sounds so.... umm, what's the word... Republican!

Easy sweetness... think before you speak, and research before that. It seems to me that the welfare system can and has been abused, but the logistics behind it are our own doing. It's not as simple as saying, someone else just doesn't work as hard as me, or can't get a job as good as mine... there are other circumstances at hand and out of your control.

If you were the manager of a small organic food store and a kid from the "other side" of town came in looking for a job; when you know exactly what kind of crime and destruction occurs in the area he's from, whether or not he's involved in any of it; would you think twice about hiring him? What if he did well in high school? College? What if you were robbed two months earlier by three kids from that side of town... would you hire him then?

Sometimes it's not as easy as it sounds. I have my own issues with the welfare system in this country and its defects, I'll admit. I don't know your background, but I suspect it's not from the ghetto. Judging others with your own experience and neglecting their own will get you nowhere, fast.

okay well, answer this for me please.

what if there was a woman that has kids with someone and he starts beating her and the children very badily..... she stays at a shelter for a while, has no relatives and he took her money.

should that just be tough luck? no one should help a person like that?

i am truly against people using the system and staying on welfare too long. i guess certain dishonest, lazy people give the people that dont abuse it and just use it to get back on their feet a bad name.

Welfare should be offered to those who work and just can't make ends meet.

Non-working folks can go eat at the churches soup kitchen and live at the shelter. Free money should not be an option for these folks.

    Everyone has to atleast try!

the starter of this thread likely has a family with money to back her up, or has been lucky enough to never need financial assistance.......I would hate to live in a country where there was absolutely no compassion for people in need......not those who want to do nothing and get paid for it, but those who have fallen on hard times and need it.

Why do these people not care that the government puts SOOO much of their tax money towards the Iraq war?

when my mom left my dad she had nothing as she didn't know ho wlong they could hold my dad at the station. She didn't take anything except for me and her car which she eventually had to give back because he controlled all the finances. If she didn't have my grandparents who financially supported is untill she finished her degree than we would have been welfare recipients non-doubt. At least on parent should stay home with the kids-and I am sorry but I think it should be moms. Diminishing welfare is breakingup the family unit-not divorce, homo sexuality ect. If president bush wants to instill family values than he needs to go after dead beat dads-not welfare recipients.

What sucks in Illinois, is that you can't buy smokes, drugs, guns, or booze with food stamps. So all these Pakistani bastards open little stores and pay the welfare recipients 1/2 the value of the food stamps in cash and use the food stamps to stock their stores. The welfare recipients can then use the cash to buy whatever they want. This sucks because the people lose half their welfare. The state should issue stamps for crack and Thunderbird and Newports - give the people what they want!

And another thing - people who don't receive welfare and pay taxes, should be able to pet people who get welfare. We pay to feed and house them - just like pets - so we should be able to pet them.

Nobody is getting down on people who are "down on their luck", but rather the ones that live off the system and don't try to better themselves.
