That is true. Thanks~ Though I hate to fight, you're right. I guess you really godda do the "do" sometimes.. How do you learn how to "not feel bad" after? After I would get into a fight sometimes, I'd apoloqize after... Even when it was a friend being attacked. Right on, man. Wow, I'm glad to see that someone actually knows about Aikido, here! Which did you take? I took Aikikai. That's soo cool. I'm all happy. ((Well, actually, it's kinda all about redirecting their energy flow.. so you can move faster during the technique. As long as you know how to do it correctly. Beginners aren't supposed to go fast when learning. (it also depends on your dojo). Though someone could have the right steps down, it takes a while to really learn how to do it right... You can never be too good at Aikido. That's the beauty of it. You can never stop learning. Iono, I have just been taking it a couple-something years.. I teach kids classes now, too. Aweee they're so cute~!)) What I really wanna try is Capoeira, too! I only learned the basic dance step thing from a friend. Do you know about it? Cus I have been wanting to try it. I don't know much about it...
I took Aiki Jutsu. I've been taking lethwei (burmese kickboxing) for 6 years. that and jui jutsu are the only things I know very well aside from boxing. I've taken some Jet Kund Do as well from a friend who instructs it, but it's difficult for me to adapt to Jet Kune Do's wing chun stance, in which a right handed person would stand southpaw. And theres no way not to feel bad as long as you want to retain your humanity. But in the moment you shouldn't be worrying about your feelings, your only concern is to neutralize a dangerous situation as quickly as possible. The more adapt you get at martial arts, the less likely you'll need to hurt someone to neutralise the situation. The only good thing to do is to watch your soroundings and try to avoid the situation. I love capoiera. I don't know any, but I would love to be at a techno show, and be jumped by a couple ninjas, and defeat them with my superlative capoeira. That's like, my life ambition.
I wrestled in high school but only to be better in football (also took gymnastics for the same reason ). I haven't gotten in a fistfight since I was fifteen, but I got in whole lotta fights up until then, and I definitely held the record for breaking noses. Don't know why, but I was just damn good at breaking the nose.
Wow, thats awesome~! Jet Kund Do sounds really interesting. Are you left-handed? I only tried out Judo and Jui Jitsu.. but they weren't for me since I don't like all of the "grappling" and "wrestling" aspects that much. Maybe its cus I'm a girl? What would you reccommend for me to try? I've been wanting to try another martial art (while still doing my aikido/iaido, ofcourse). Maybe kung-fu or something. (What would be really cool is ninjitsu. I wanna secretly be a ninja.) Well, during a fight, and while I also train, I'm always focused. But after a real fight, I'd feel bad. Your right, atleast I'm humane.. Do you think a better fighter should have humanity? (I think so, but yano) Hahaha, yahhh that would rock to be able to take on a bunch of ninja's like that! Woot! Also.. I kinda want to have cool battles- like in videogames. Tekken, SC, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc.. lol :jester:
I think it's pretty bad ass that you've been teaching kids. I'd like to, but there are elements that I'd have to town down, like elbows, knees, headbutting. You should consider doing some tournaments. I made the mistake of taking money for fighting when I was a kid, which means I'm a 'pro' no matter how out of shape I am. I'm headed to Thailand for 5 months in september to train in Phuket. Room and board and training there is only like $550 a month, which is cheaper then rent in Austin.
Thankyou~ But Woah, how cool, man! I'd love to do something like that! (haha naw I'm sure you're in good enough shape) Do they accept all there? Whats it like? When you go you godda tell me how it was! btw) is taking money for fighting wrong? I think it's pretty awesome- if for a good reason!
Nah, I'm right handed. jet kune Do is a sort of meta mix of martial arts, by Bruce Lee, who I believe was hella, but honestly, not the best martial artist of all time. Not even the best martial arts actor in terms of martial arts prowess. Jet Li is 4 time long fist (eagle claw I believe) champion of all China. No person has ever won as many of chinas national championships as Jet Li. but the good thing about Jeet Kune Do is it applied to all levels. The only thing that matches the encompasing factor of Jeet Kune Do is krav Maga, Israeli special forces fighting. I liked Jeet Kune Do, but it seemed kind of incomplete, which is something Bruce Lee agreed to, and such is true since he died so young. I just cant get used to fighting right foot forward. Of course it's up to you, but I think if your looking to round yourself out as a martial artist with something thats really fun, I would recomend Lethwai, or Muay Thai, which is almost completly similar. It'll let you control yourself completly, and if you have aikido and muay thai top notch, your probably not going to lose your footing. Personally in any self defense scenario, I'd much rather be on my feet. I think in the long run of training, being a more peaceful person will help you as a martial artist. It'll help you stay more focused then someone whos just in it for violence. But from a technical perspective, better as far as skill goes doesn't always mean the better person. Although I think a better person is more likely to have the heart needed to become a great fighter.
No nothing wrong with competing for money at all. It just means that now I'm usually going to be contractually obligated to fight other "pros" as an adult, and the second I stopped training everyday, I became immediatly outclassed for a large part. I personally should have waited a few years to take money for fighting. I'm still in good shape, I'm just not in my best fighting form. I weigh 165, and I've never been in a fight above 155. And yes, they do accept all there. You don't need to have any experince at all. You don't even need to be intrested in fighting profesionally, which I was suprised by. http://sinbi-muaythai.com/ I could go even cheaper if I could live with fan cooling in Thailand. But I'm spoiled. :H
Yano, Lethwai and Muay Thai I've heard of more-so than "Jeet Kune Do" (maybe im not well rounded enough, heh)... I'll definately give those a try. Thanks! I was always kinda worried that, if I try something different, I might lose footing. I'm glad to hear that those wont mess with me. Yah, I agree.. I never thought Bruce Lee was the "greatest". Not that he wasn't good tho'. Now Jet Li, HE is kickass. (I think he is the more attractive one too. c'mon now, I'm a girl. Whadya xpect? lol) O ya, those Israeli force people are pretty bad-ass. Iono if I could hold my own in a fight with them. Niice Lodui! Thanks for the link, It looks great! Take me with youuu~~~ I'll pay :'[ Is it all year round? Cus if I'm not able to go, I can always go later, right? I might feel kinda weird.. It doesn't look like there are that many girls. Ah well. But, I'm way suprised to hear that people don't have to have experince.
Jet Li is a handsome man. I'm not gay... but I'd probably let Jet Li have me. :H You'll always be risking losing your footing if you're not comfortable on your feet, but as far as staying on your feet goes, lethwai is all about it. One important difference is that in aiki your balence is always evenly distributed, if not on your lead foot, while in lethwai, and every striking art, most of the weight is on your back foot. Especially important, because one of the best ways to take out amateur fighters is to give em a good round kick if most of their weight is on their lead foot. If you know how to change your approach depending on the situation, you'll be doing great. And if you'd think about going to thailand to train with champion fighters, I'd heavily encourage it. It's open year round. Martial arts are usually pretty guy heavy, but theres nothing more impressive then a woman who can fight.
Hahaha. Now that is what I call loyalty to Jet Li. I was "loling" for about an hour, for that one. I'm really going to consider going. I'm planning on going by the end of the summer or so. I just wonder about the plane fare... :] Great tip, I'll def try a roundhouse on 'em. (I'd usually let them attack, while I doge/block and go in for a strike... or somethin totally different.. Iono, actually, I don't really "plan" on what to do in a fight. I don't really know if that even works. What says you?) Hopefully they wont get the best of me.. but.. I'm confident I'd do pretty well, anyway. "..but theres nothing more impressive then a woman who can fight" That gave me confidence, thanks! I always thought it was kinda odd for a girl to be into such martial arts.. but thats probably from my uprising. (hense why I used to be a tom-boy when I was younger) I wonder if the place'll be crowded? Well, I guess the more the merrier, right?
It'd be bad ass if you went. I decided on going after a friend sent me the link and reading through it. I follow whatever dream pops into my head. Theres no way of planning what to do in a fight if you arent throwing the first blow. I personally prefer combinations like jab-cross-knee, or roundhouse-hook-elbow. Use your kicks to set up your punches, your punches to set up your knees and elbows, and if your close enough to close, throw in a headbutt to the bridge of the nose. Don't worry about taking over the thread. Things rarely stay on topic this long. You may be a little odd, but who cares. Knitting sucks. :H
i like welsh cunts. i was in sumfuckingplace WALES n fuct fer cash n junk. got a ferry to ireland. bumfuck egypt wandered about town as it was lookin fer work . ide been kicked outta ireland cuz yanks need cash etc.anyhoo im sleepin n wack wakeup chasem down n on his chest look around see a whole buncha fucks grinnin. hes cringin so i wackem playful n get up.walkin back to my gear. oi want a lager or sumthin in them lines. hell yeah kid. i liked uk a whole bunch. drink fight n fuck n its as it should be. no prison no bullshit.oh i beat sumone with a barrel cactus once. and ive been torched like a witch. i got a whole bunch. britain was like bein at home kinna. you can fight n you dont get locked up.i hate alot this government these pigs.i remember they asked in this psyche eval have you been in more than 2 fights. 10 15? by that age itd be 120ish. now its 600ish. fighting is healthy in a canibal society . aint got no natural predators who the fuck gonna keep shit tight?them badgers are tough. last natural enemy in britain. who shat in yer mouth?
Hay johnnydisaster, I agree with you. These pigs and their barn here in the US can suck my left nut. They squeal out too many lies and tend to make so much shit.. that they end up having to roll around in it when people refuse to give a damn.
Oo how I would like to follow whatever dream pops in my head. It's sad it doesn't always work for me because they seem too far out of reach. I think I ought to make smaller goals to reach what I wanna get to. Aa.. I agree, combos are essential of course. Yano, I consider myself to be well fit and strong... I have good endurance and all.. But recently I started to wonder if my party and drug lifestyle have a huge negative effect on my preformance. So far I seem perfectly fine.. and I can hold my own. Do you think it'll catch up one day? Or should I take breaks every now and then? What would you suggest? Haha headbutts... O how I remember giving those. Me n a friend of mine were wrestling one day. He was trying to teach me how. Unfortunately we both were in a hold on the ground for... who knows how long. So we started headbutting eachother back and forth. But not intended to break noses or anything. Just I guess, kinda to see who can hold out longer? Felt like forever. But he gave up. He said my head was way to hard (...and that it probably lacks brain... gur) After that my limbs felt like jello for being in a hold for so long... I don't think I'm ever going to wrestle again, lol. O hellz yeah, you're right. I'd rather be odd than knitting all day. (though I do like to sew.. but.. thats different)
Partying too hard can throw off your game. I did it for a while though. Who knows. I guarentee you, whatever you thinks keeping you from doing what you want doesn't matter. Assuming you don't have children or a sick relative to suport, you're free to do whatever you want. Anything you thinks in your way, can be mitigated.
What a cool cat, Lodui. Though, to me it might seem like I'd be blowin off on my life or responsibilities here.. but, really.. I really do godda start doing what I'd like to do more offen. Otherwise I'd always be livin' and doin' for someone else.. Which I guess isn't that great all the time. Maybe I just godda move away sometime. I've been planning on traveling cross country.. Still, tho.. I don't know if I'm ready to leave the dojo anytime soon. I think my heart is too weak to push that away.. Least, not yet. Do you think I'd be able to train at different dojos if I decide to go on the trip?
