high, yeah well i know i'm young and you propbably just think i'm a stupid lil teen who's looking for some fun or something with these online relationships. but i have this 'boyfriend' in nyc, like a thousand miles away. he's 15 and i've seen a few pics of him and he's seen me and all... and i do believe he loves me and he is really who he says he is. and i really do like him. we have only IMed and emailed each other, and never talked on the phone. it's been almost 3 months since we 'met' and i thought he was a really great guy and friend from the very beginning. i just felt like posting that here since you guys were already talking about online relationships and stuff...

I've had an online relationship before. I'm in the UK, she was in northen Cali. About 2 years into knowing each other, and realising we both *liked* each other, she came to London on holiday for a week, I showed her all around London, and we had some *fun*. But when she went back, we called it off. We both liked each other very much, and had we lived closer togther, we might have given it a go, but as we lived so far away, it would have been too much hard work. (Although saying that, I was keen on trying it, it was her who didn't think it would work).

It's now something like 4 years later, we're still good friends, and chat online all the time, but she has a fella that she's serious about... so I wish her the best of luck.

i've found the love of my life, on these very forums. i have never felt this way about anyone before, and if you ask me it would be stupid to deny those feelings just because we live far away. (not even, only three provinces apart) and now she's coming to be with me in not even a week's time. these things can work out, its just that you have to know each other in the right way, and be really committed.

Aww, I really hope it works out with you guys, inbloom...:)

As for me, I met my boyfriend of a year and 8 months on these forums. We have an awesome connection, see each other about every 2-3 weeks, and talk every day. We fell in love online, and are still very much in love...:) It can definitely happen. He's my best friend in the world.

well, it seems to work for me. i've never had such strong feelings for anyone before. i'm in love. but he was planning on moving here before we started talking. and we're very open and honest with each other (yes, i know about all you girls that hit on him...) and we just take it one step at a time.

    good luck

Sure it can.. hard work sometimes of course but I know of 5 couples who met online and got married.

Come to think of it.. make it 6.. I forgot the one where I actually delivered their first kid :D

And of course there's that very special lady I love whom I met here.. we're working towards a meeting and the way we both feel.. I have no doubts this is forever.

My first thoughts on the subject is of my neice linda, she met a guy on line, in the same general area, and they met, they dated, they married, have 3 kids.
Sounds nice? Its not, Her new husband has 3 other kids from 2 other wives, pays 50% of his net pay to child support. She, works 2 jobs, pawns the kids off to whoever will watch them that day. She went from college student, on her way to a nursing degree, to a poor, angry, sour, 20 something woman with little hope for the future or her childrens future. My sister, who is my neices mother of course, helps out alot, watches those kids more than Linda does and its just not fair. I guess its not just cause they met online, but it sure had its impact on this story

I don't think you can because you don't have that personal connection. You can't truley even know someone over the internet. You can have a crush on them or what they say can turn you on but it is not healthy to have a relationship with someone who you have no interaction with on a personal level

What makes you think that it isn't personal? I fell in love with my boyfriend over the internet as I've posted a billion times and we've been together almost 4 years, and plan to get married. Everyone and every relationship is different. You can truely know someone over the internet as long as you are both open and honest and allow yourself to trust them and also be vulnerable. Unfortunately, a lot of people are not truthful online, so it is hard to tell. Jer and I didn't go into our "online relationship" with the intent to "find love on the internet" we were both being our silly cynical selves joking back and forth like old friends. We just made a connection, one that neither of us had made before. The first time we met, it didn't work out, but we remained friends online and got to know each other better. The next time we hung out in person, there was no doubt in either of our minds that we were meant to be. All because neither of us gave up our "online friendship".

    wenni,

it sounds to me that online love isn't your problem, your problem is that your relationship is long distance. There is a difference. My boyfriend lived 8 blocks from me when we met online and we did have the opportunity to hang out in person, talk on the phone, date, etc. Long distance things are hard, and rarely work out. Also, it seems that you are a little overbearing on your love. Give him some space sweetie. If he is busy, then he is busy. That doesn't mean he doesn't care about you or dig you anymore, just means he is busy. don't smother the poor boy.
