Kiowa County, Kansas residents complain about media bias. GREENSBURG, Kan. (AP) - Anger about media bias has hit a new high among the residents of this Kansas town, still paralyzled from yesterday's devastating tornadoes. While reeling from this death-blow from Mother Nature, residents of this very conservative county are beginning to speak out about what they call "unfair, biased" media coverage. Many are very upset at mainstream news coverage, showing blown-down houses- many nothing but a foundation- and the piles of debris under which some are believed to be still trapped. "Why don't they show the good things that people did here yesterday?" asks resident Nellie Beale. "Just yesterday my four year old colored a picture for me and I stuck it on the fridge. Where was the media then, huh?" she asks. Welston Ford feels much the same way. "The liberal media always focuses on the negative stuff. They show the downtown area complete gutted, every business and home completely destroyed. But where were they last week when we had a road crew here in town fixing potholes?" The news media's focus on the death and destruction of the tornadoes has only heightened discussion of the issue. For people of this conservative county- who re-elected pro-war Congressman Jerry Moran to office in 2006 by a 4 to 1 margin- this issue should be getting more attention. And now they argue that the media should also cover "the good side" of deadly tornadoes. "I heard yesterday that my neighbor Fred Johnson was killed in the twister. He was an asshole, and I'm glad he's dead. Why isn't the media reporting good news like this?" asked another resident. Presidential hopeful John McCain arrived late this morning, surrounded by 1,500 US Marines. Strolling bravely through the wreckage, bodies, and injured trapped families, McCain related a similar message. "See, I'm not afraid of tornadoes. See? There are no tornadoes to worry about. I can walk right down this very street right now and see? No tornado, see? Everything here is just peachy," said McCain. "Praise God!" Little Amber Nelson lies trapped somewhere in that rubble. Her little puppy dog, named Tippy, was found dead. But most mainstream media fails to report the good things that happen amidst tornadoes: little Tippy sure won't shit on the carpet again, now will he. ============================================================ "Window seat, please."
