I don't agree with people less than half my age on much, but I agree with you on this claim. Indeed it is my favorite movie
Anyone ever notice how he repeats phrases and words like a little kid who hears them for the first time? A few include, "in the parlance of our times" "vagina" and "abides". There was a few more but I can't remember them.
"The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners. Shoosh. I sure hope he makes the finals."
"All the dude ever wanted was his rug back..." What a classic. Walter was my favorite character. "I once dabbled in pacifism, not in Nam of course"
what ever its a great movie with allot of great lines like "the dude abids" "were consoling DUUDE"!!! "THE F****** PISSED ON YOUR RUG DUDE!!!!"
Jeff Bridges is highly underrated, in my opinion. But perhaps the fact that he's not overly exploited is where some of this appeal lies.
I saw the movie several months ago, and the parts I remember were funny. But I was drunk while watching the movie, so I don't remember most of it.
"Shut the fuck up, Donnie." "Do you see what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass?" Walter is a great character, but I have to appreciate the Stranger with his voiceover monologues. "Darkness warshed over the Dude - darker'n a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night. There was no bottom."
