How long can you store seeds for?

    How long can you store seeds for, without damaging them?

    I have read that the seed stock should be renewed every three years. M Botany - Clarke. The germination rate will gradually decrease.

    Yep! They can actually be stored for quite a few years; but like BudBill said the germination rate goes down with time. Store them properly: in a small ,air tight, light proof, container, at a fairly steady temperature (room temperature is fine). Some people keep them in the refridgerator (I don't). Some people say to use those "anti humidity" goodies (that come in a bottle of aspirin). I don't use those either, I think that's a bad idea - the seeds need thier own moisture to stay viable.
    Anyway, I know people that have brought 20 year old seeds back to life, but the germination rate was pretty low - maybe 20%. But they weren't really stored that well either!
