i know almost everybody recommends dr. bronners on this forums but i can't find a place that has it yet. my dreadheadhq shampoo came today i'm ganna give it a try. but a few days ago i found out about a jamaican store near my house. apperantly they have everything jamaican. they have dread products...even groceries. it's pretty cool. but my question was: has anyone used dreadhead soap before? and if yes, what was your experience with it? it says it tightens dreads on the bottle. but i rarely believe advertisments.

I use the dreadheadhq stuff. I have some other shampoo thats all natural which I'll open once the dreadhead stuffs finished. Its okay, and it does help tighten them, but I think ANY shampoo will help tighten them. and it has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which I think is carcenogenic.

Dr. Bronners is the best. It's a little pricey on my Po' college student fund...but a bottle lasts me a few months, and that's with me using it as body wash every day too. Just on my hair it would last over a year, I'm sure. I don't use much.

egle: I've started just washing my hair once a month, rinsing it off every other day-once a week with just the water, no soap. Some people use soap less than that...so I wouldn't worry about it as long as people aren't complaining about smell. What do you use? I found out the hard way that some soaps=animal fat, chemicals, residue. ick.

I've found that even Dr. Bronners doesn't rinse completely clean...and it's all good stuff. So I'd think that the stuff that has poo in it (SLS, other chemicals.) would be downright icky.

It might depend on your shower too. You've got to work with your water type and water pressure and find whatever works best for you..and stick with it so your scalp figures out what it needs to do.

I use dreadhead hq shampoo and its done the job just fine for me! I always put a drop of tea tree oil in with it (I put enough shampoo for one wash in a small container then add one drop of the tea tree, then mix). Ive done this for 4 months now, works good. :)

What exactly does Tea Tree Oil do? I was gonna get the Dr. Bronner's with tea tree oil, but I figured I'd try peppermint since it smells good. Should I have gone with tee tree oil?

tea tree is really soothing on your scalp...dandruff and dryness gets to be a problem with dreadlocks. So tea tree helps with that.

    And it smells awesome!

Oohhh.. Would it be safe if I bought some, and mixed it with my Dr. Bronner's peppermint? Or maybe just made a spray bottle with water and tee tree oil to spray on my dreads?

I'd just get some tea tree oil...

I'm not sure about spraying it on the actual dreads. but it's good for your scalp, so maybe just get some on your fingers and massage it into the scalp.
