Well I was told by my friend I had to make a thread.. & I didn't know what to make one about so she said ask something about German Shepherds.. so I was just wondering if anyone else out there has a German Shepherd? If you do then, post a pic of your GSD and why you decided to get him/her.

I don't have pets now. I have trouble enough taking care of myself. But as a kid I had three german shepherds - Sheba, King, and Spike - loved them all.

I bet.. In my opinion German Shepherds are the best dogs. I will have no other dog but a German Shepherd.

They are pretty dogs but they are not good with kids. A friend had hers put down the very same day it bit her baby. It didn't want to share the limelight....

i got bit by a german shepard when i was like 5...

i think everyone has a dog that they can most appreciate, i love huskies...when i was little i had a husky honey, was my dads dog..most beautiful dog ever, part wolf...she always took care of me..i can still remember the day they came and took her away...she was getting old and used to bark at my neighbours..she didn't actually do anything just bark, the neighbours called the pound and they took her away...i have a husky now, moonshine she's 13, she's my dog...i love her to death
    we have a bond :)

yeah, german shepherd were my favorite, but they all would go fucking whacked out around my babies. i'll probably have one some day, but not while i have children.

I don't know how ur friend raised their german shepherd but, if they are trained right..GSD don't do that..They are usually very good w/children & babies.. One of my relatives had a GSD and it would look after the kids like they were her own..If the kids would attempt to walk close to the road the GSD would stop them.

As, for my dog (Mossey) and my sisters dog (Heinrich) they know better then to bit any living thing unless we give the ok..But, we have worked with them very hard to make them good & gentle dogs.

well, that may very well be true when they're raised with these particular kids 'in their pack' but outside kids are at risk. i've seen it again and again, and though i love the breed, it's not a chance i'm willing to take.

No. I had a German Grandfather though...

PS- People who own and breed pure bred dogs should be sterilized. Move this to the pet forum, please.

Well, i don't know what kinda GSDs you've been around but, i have never seen a healthy & well balanced GSD bite or attacked a child.
