What genre are they? I hear a rock/punk mix I don't think they fit into either. If you had to pick a genre from the list of sub forums up top what would you choose?

Also, you guys like old or new green day better. I'm listenin' to Dookie right now, nuff said.

Well, their early stuff, I would say, is pop-punk. Their early stuff is tolerable.

Their later stuff is like... pseudo-political....crap. I don't even know what genre it fits into.

I'd also say pop-punk. I like older greenday. i mean, american idiot has nothing on dookie. lol, i was 5 years old when my babysitters got me into greenday. I fucking loved it. i was like such a social outcast music wise because when my freinds listened to aqua and spice girls...i liked green day, offspring and even a bit of marilyn manson.
I really do not enjoy any of greendays new material. i sort of like boulavard of broken dreams until i heard it 3000 times a day for a year straight. I think billy joe used to be so hot...now he just looks as if he's trying to hard. befor it was like...i'll do what the fuck i want but now it seems like they're forcing it.

by the way *happy 35th birthday mike dirnt*

They started out as an indie sorta of garage punk.
...and almost immediately transitioned to pop. Some songs still have punk elements to them, but considering they released their big "fuck the system!!!" album on a major record label that is part of 'the system', I can't take them too seriously.
